The dragon can use its glowing fins and eyespots in a flare to attempt to disorient attackers.

Eternal Patience

The possession of nearly supernatural patience. The dragon can wait, without need of food or drink, for up to two weeks without growing bored or losing focus.

Hunter's Mark

The ability to "mark" a single target at a time and track them through any body of water. The mark is lost if the target leaves the water.

Telepathy

The ability to communicate mind-to-mind.

Underwater Breathing

The ability to breathe underwater.

Even without making use of his preternatural patience, Malacostei is a very hard dragon to get a rise out of. The little stresses, stupidities, and insults of the day-to-day just wash past and over him without the barest ruffling of a fin. He's a dragon who sees the big picture in the very long term, so there's no point in worrying over the small and petty things. When the time does come for action, however, he does so without hesitation. This applies to everything from hunting for his meals, to showing up at a previously agreed on time right on the dot.

• Malacostei is another who has been feeling biological imperatives, though he has yet to find a mate that appeals to him. Thankfully he is endlessly patient, so this has been no great inconvenience, but it is ever on his mind.
• Lernaea, aware of this, passes word to him of the frenzy. Feeling neither hope nor doubt, he decides to attend. He cannot be successful if he never engages in the hunt.
