From the moment of his birth, Rubicunda yearned for the open waters of a true ocean. The sterile, artificial seas of a spaceport grated at him like so many buzzing flies. Now he despises man-made architecture and the hum of machines, and nothing sets his scales on edge faster than the echo of footsteps on metal or the flicker of artificial lighting. Rubicunda dreams not just of waves and salt, but of vastness -- an unending horizon unmarred by the hand of civilization. He thrives in natural environments and seems to draw energy directly from the wildness of the sea, growing more vibrant, more alive, the farther he gets from the shores of the Warren.
Outside of his hatred for all things artificial, Rubicunda is quick to trust and generally gregarious. His extroverted nature makes him a magnet for others, and he's often found in the center of a swirl of laughter, games, or strange and exciting ideas. He loves stories -- hearing them, telling them, adding to them -- and seems to carry a sense of myth with him wherever he goes, as if he's already decided he's going to be a legend himself one day. Though playful, he's not frivolous: he listens intently when others speak of their dreams and builds his own with the same fervor. Behind his bright eyes and impulsive charm lies a keen, strategic mind already spinning plans for something big, something meaningful. He's determined to make his mark not with machines or cities, as the land-dwellers do, but with something far more enduring: the tides themselves.
