Araaye Jeyna
"Oh, I know!"

Name:Araaye Jeyna
Age:18
Sex:Female
Species:Blue Jay Anthropomorph
Height:5'6"
Residence:Nidus Caeligenus
Occupation:Archivist Apprentice
Description:

Araaye has a rather flighty look about her, but that's only to be expected from a bird anthropomorph. She is lithe and rather fragile, but that's the fault of hollow bones rather than poor health. Her bright blue, white, and black plumage is patterned exactly like that of her non-anthro kin, and her beak and legs, scaly from the ankle down, are black. Her arms are in fact her wings, with three fingers and a thumb projecting from the "wrist" joint. Her eyes are a paler blue than her feathers.

Since wing-arms and a broad, feathered tail make wearing clothes difficult, Araaye usually goes about nearly nude -- it's not like there's anything to see but feathers, anyway! She does, however, like wearing decorative shawls and cowls, and silver anklets.

Personality:

Araaye is what her friends have described as a "brilliant ditz". She is bright and cheerful, at times working herself into an animated tizzy of excitement over things she enjoys. She can be absentminded and forgetful at the same time that she's incredibly book-smart and a straight-A student. She doesn't sit around memorizing books and lectures, but when she learns something, it pretty much stays learned. The things she forgets are things like calendar dates and appointment times, or whatever it was her father told her that morning at breakfast. Hard, solid facts, however, remain as ingrained to her memory as if etched in stone.

But even with a love of knowledge and learning, Araaye knows how to let loose and have fun, which is why she's a part of the little group of friends that she is. She loves a harmless little joke or trick just as much as her friends, and has even been the mastermind behind a fair share of them. After all, with her mental warehouse of facts, it's not hard to string a few of them together in a way to cause a little playful chaos!

The loss of their childhood home has, at least outwardly, not affected Araaye as much as the others. The Destiny fascinates her and with every new thing she learns about it, she tries her best to share her excitement with her friends. The truth is, she's doing her best to rise to the challenge of being a mood-maker, to better help everyone cope with the losses they've suffered. Sometimes that means reminding them of the positive odds in their favor, and sometimes that just means rambling about things entirely unrelated.

Biography:

Araaye and her friends (Dorian, Iaveran, Regan, Sel) were all born and raised on the space station called Star City, where common circumstances and shared interests bonded them all into a tight, if eclectic, group. Although for a fairly ridiculous reason (moral support for Regan bonding a plant-dragon when her parents told her the only living thing she could bring into the house was a plant), they unanimously decided to stand for dragon-bonding at different places across the Nexus and proceeded to do so. Four of them succeeded before calamity: the infestation of Star City by vast numbers of xenodragons.

They, like many other inhabitants of the City, were evacuated, and it was simple happenstance that they were among the many taken aboard by the Abstract Destiny when it worked in concert with native craft to help save as many as possible. Some families had further places to escape to, other planets or stations where safety could be found, but others were less fortunate and left homeless among the vastness of space. Thankfully, the Destiny had no intentions of forcing out anyone with no place to go, and so they remain aboard the ship as they explore their options -- including the discussions that Doctor Schroeder wishes to see to the founding of a Nidus for them all.
