Given the parents who birthed and raised him, Malthe'tys is the unfortunate middle ground between a tactical genius and a squeaky ball. Having inherited his mother's scheming mind and his father's boundless energy, he is a whirlwind of unfocused ambition. He has the capacity to dream up complex, multi-layered scams, but he lacks the attention span to actually see them through to the end. He is desperately trying to impress two very different parents: he tries to act "cool and detached" for Shaoi'zi, but as soon as Fortesco starts wagging his tail or suggests a race, Malthe'tys's "professional" facade crumbles into pure, puppy-like excitement.
