Why Ombet, a dragon whose chaotic magics work only through the spilling of blood, would choose as squeamish a bond as Kip Halley, no one will know. Perhaps it's because he has a hypocritical streak. Perhaps it's because, really, bonding a person who can't be around copious amounts of blood is about the only thing that could possibly keep him from going on a killing spree, and he really isn't as truly evil as his chaotic-blood would suggest? ...Nah, it's got to be a hypocritical streak.

But evil or not, Ombet certainly isn't good or necessarily even likable. He is aloof and detached from all of his emotions, and goes about with a condescending air towards all other people. Though he does like his bond in his own way, he presents his loyalty to the man more like a bodyguard would. He is not affectionate, but will loom ominously over his bond's shoulder if Halley is up against someone that needs intimidating, and will interpose himself between Halley and a threat with the cool unconcern of a mercenary who's only doing what he's paid to do.

Liking and being loyal to his bond, however, aren't the same thing as being obedient! Ombet only does what he's told if it's something really important, and has no qualms about manipulating Halley's fear of him into making the man do something he wants!
