Appearance: |
Cerhat is a hefty woman, so much so that she looks a little front-loaded when she rides atop her Blue. Despite her apple shape, she is incredibly athletic and makes use of her appearance to intimidate where needed. Cerhat has dark brown skin and wavy, mahogany brown hair that falls to her shoulders. Her eyes are hazel brown, and are narrow in her rounded face.
Cerhat wears heavier riding leathers than most might consider appropriate for a temperate mountain Nidus, but she was born in a Desert Weyr, where most of the day was spent in sweltering hot weather, and dry, cold nights were spent huddled around warm hearths. She still wears bright Igen Wyer colours: yellows and whites and blacks, and braids of blue for her father's rank.

Personality: |
Cerhat is a jovial woman who likes to throw her weight around in the boxing ring, who likes to explore and chop wood and rough it when she's not working. She Impressed Nauilhoth ages ago, and transferred to Nidus Descendi with several other riders on Search-capable Blues who were needed to help the new-founded Nidus track down Novos for a batch of eggs rescued from the Nexus Drift. Before that, she was born, grew up and lived at Igen Weyr. Her father was a blue-rider, her father's father was a blue-rider, and so on and such-forth as far back as her family can remember. Cerhat bonding threw that tradition for a loop... but ultimately her family was overjoyed, as she had no other siblings or half-siblings on her father's side.
Growing up as a Weyrbrat, she found herself often lonely despite running with many others of her kind. Her mother was a Lower Caverns servant, and because she was the last of her line, before she Impressed, she was below his notice. Most of her peers followed suit, or else challenged her for being a downgrade on a male-dominated tradition. She learned her boxing dirty as a kid, and only in the last few years got back into it with more friendly intentions.
Cerhat's bonding to Nauilhoth changed things around significantly. She had her father's approval, she had a dragon who loved her, and her new group of peers treated her as equals, at least in the brown through green-coloured ranks. It helped that Nauilhoth showed early that he was a sensitive empath, able to read potential in other youths for bonding. Pushed into that stream of Weyrling Training gave Cerhat purpose.
She spent many years with Nauilhoth, traveling across Pern (and eventually the Nexus) Searching candidates for clutches, and spending time with her cohort of other Searchriders, developing friendships that would eventually lead her to a romantic tryst resulting in her daughter, Tegwyn. Thoroughly aware of the pressure of family tradition, Tegwyn was ultimately why Cerhat moved on from Igen Weyr over to a new Nidus. She wanted her daughter to have more choice than did she at her age.
Living at a Nidus has not been all that different from living in a Weyr. There are new terms and ways of governance, but bonding dragonets still need young riders to grow with them, and Nauilhoth is very good at what he does. When she's not on the job, Cerhat has embraced her new home by exploring it thoroughly. It helps to ferry resources to those humans settling around the base of the mountains, after all, because when their children reach Novo age, they'll know who's coming to Search them!
