Although he is capable of true telepathy, unlike the feral mind-sendings of Scylla and Charybdis, Typhon is still the least intelligent member of his pod. Though he is quick and agile, a deadly hunter, he has neither Scylla's cunning mind nor Charybdis's steady one. He is simply a wild beast, ambushing his prey through instinct rather than careful plotting.

As the first unattached male to join the pod after Paenos -- who is soundly attached to Charybdis anyway -- Typhon is both possessive of and believes himself possessed by the other females of the pod, as if they are both his harem and he their slave. His behavior is a strange combination of submissive and presumptuous around them, while another male's presence tends to put the smaller serpent on edge. There near-always seems to be an eager, courting undertone to the way he treats the females.

He has had only one success as a result. Lernaea snared him when breeding urges finally came upon her, simply taking advantage of the fact that was willing and needed no courting effort, rather than out of real attraction to him.
