and your friend's problems for paying late sound like a desperation tactic to keep 'only the highest grade scorers' in the school - to look really good on paper. blah.
That sucks Sunny I'm sorry
Yeah it's definitely not limited to public schools ... I can bitch about the public high school I went to all I want but it was a gleaming utopia compared to the catholic school I went to for a year and a half *anime sweatdrop* They actually closed down a few years after I left, great service for humanity, that. It wasn't the religious thing, surprisingly. I didn't mind having to pray before class or whatever because I thought it might help me do better on whatever tests I had coming up

... but it was just the school itself that was so moronic. For being an institute of education, they sure delighted in keeping us ignorant. Every once in awhile a student, or even a teacher, would just not show up anymore, and whenever a student asked what happened to them, the teachers and admins would pretty much tell us it was none of our business. When the planes hit the world trade center four years ago, we didn't even know about it until until like 5 hours later. I kid you not, it happened at about 8 am, and we just went about our business doing normal school work until about 12 when the information leaked via extremely exaggerated rumors. Finally in our afternoon chemistry class when our teacher failed to hold our attention talking about lyme disease did the principal go on the PA system and tell us we could all go home. Their excuse was because nobody could take the train at the normal time 'cause there were no trains (yeah, we lived in the subburbs of new york, and we were probably the last to know about it. come on). Anyway I'm getting grossly off topic from the already off topic post, but hey ... bitching about school is FUN!
