These guys have been named esmirl

Esmirl hail from the cold, northern regions of the planet Arira as a surprising predator. With their hopping gate one would not think they could run down prey, but their forelegs are rather strong with long claws used for gripping and their jaws are crushing. The elves of Arira have bred them as hunting beasts for years, using them to flush or run down prey.

They are roughly the size of a greyhound and very loyal and intelligent, but when not exercised can quickly become lazy. Like the dogs they resemble they love children and can be surprisingly gentle. In some of the more out-of-the-way areas the elves use them as a form of currency, and they are highly valued. In the cities, however, they are just bred as show animals, for hunting, or as pets.

*hugs hers* These are absolutely gorgeous, Sil... I really must find a page to show mine to his best advantage. He's going to be male, I think, going by my first reaction; he reminds me of a peacock, almost, standing out from all the others so much. And I can see them being bred for exotic markings, to be used as show animals or pets for the wealthy - unless they usually come in such colors? That'd seem a bit more unusual in the wild, at least...

I'm definitely getting high-class pet vibes; that's probably what I'll do with him, unless you have a preference. A beauty like that seems almost certain to be spoiled. ~^

Almost overlooked my question: would it be feasible for esmirl to be traded and transported offworld? I believe I have a place (though not a dragon-based society) where my boy would fit in quite well...

Yep yep...and how your character/locale came about it. XD Ariran Elves do associate with RoF, but only because the current High Priestess is wanting to break away from their oppressors.

Okay...explanation

Arira is on a different planet from RoF, still in the grips of Empress Hieyiakana of the demonic Katri. But the current High Priestess, Ysalane, has been working towards alliance with outsiders and a possible revolt later (future storyline).

Also, Hieyiakana's empire is not locked off--Hieyiakana has a dragon (hydragon) herself, so she would probably allow traders etc... Just don't ever piss her off. Or get near her, for that matter... She is not nice.

I should open up more areas, which I probably will eventually. Just not organized enough and a little leery. But pets I guess aren't a big deal.. They are traded, and if you need more info just talk to me! =D

Thylos is up, just wrote a tiny leetle story snippet for him, but more wouldn't work nearly as well. Tell me if you want more, or if I need to change something?

Like the esmirl, the markel are used as hunting creatures, though predictably they are rather clumsy on land and unable to catch anything quicker than a diving frog. More common and diverse than the esmirl, they are not quite as prized by the elves that don't live in the marshlands themselves. Those that do, however, are quite fond of them for their quiet company, affection, and superb fishing abilities. They also make quite nice furcoats.

Haven't done Lakota's yet...because she needs to give me the colors!
