'Lings--Marshlings up!

Post by Silver Midnight »

Decided to put up the lineart, in case anyone that won the minicontest wants to see/change anything. I haven't finished coloring, after all. XD

Those are beautiful! Makes me wish I'd logged on earlier instead of cleaning my apartment! :P Can't wait to see them colored... :)

I would've done something different but I wanted to accent how the forelegs are shorter than the hindlegs...

X3 It just reminds me of Zarathus' arts, very detailed. :3

I think the marshling is really cute

Glad everyone approves so far. X3

And Jess--sorry I wasn't clearer on the metallic-y thing, but I'm planning on holding more like contests so you'll have more chances to get one!

Might as well start it...

I will take the first two people for each type to guess correctly on the following.

The so-called "lings" above are based off of real, earth creatures. The number used are as follows:

Winterling--four real life creatures!
Marshling--two real life creatures!

You will get a 'ling of the corresponding type if you guess correctly. Think hard, as this time you only get three guesses! PM me your answer.

If we have an idea for three of the four can we send those to you to confirm if they're right while we try to figure out the fourth or do you only want us to try to identify all four at once?

Try all at once, but I will tell you which are right. Nobody's gotten all four on the first... but Lakota gave me food for thought on the marshling, even though it wasn't what I was looking for considering letting it pass.

Do we have to name the specific species, or a general name?

I'll take general name. Like if it was a beetle you wouldn't have to tell me it was an East African Dung Beetle or whatever (don't think that's a real bug)...just that it was a beetle. :D

Are they animals vaguely related to the type of terrain the Ling seems to be from? Like, is the Marshling based on animals that live in and around the water, rather than, say, an animal from the desert? I've got several options in mind, so I'm trying to narrow it down by how logically you chose the animals...

I would say that the animals can all be found there, yes. =)

Do only our first guesses count, or did you not get my second guess? Just curious, sometimes my computer does funny things

Are they animals that live now, or does it include extinct animals? Trying to narrow it down still further... your pictures look like too many things...

They're all living.

Okay..on the Winterling..ones people haven't gotten yet. (Except Xalia, who didn't get the last thing)

Canid but not a wolf
Hooved creature, not a deer, and yes I know it doesn't have hooves
Something that is very fast but doesn't run
Well...the last one is obvious.

On the Marshling (Lakota has got it!)

Something long that swims, is maybe a fish
Something long and FURRY that swims
Something that would have given it wings but I didn't like them.

You only have to tell me two on the marshling since I forgot the fish-thing...

I went ahead and took three winners for the Marshling--I'll take three for the Winterling, though no one has got it yet. o.o

On the marshling it was:
Eel
Otter (River)
Bat (Flying Fox)!

Post by Silver Midnight »

Winners so far are...

Winterling
Jess
Samber

Marshling
Lakota
Xalia
Shiolar

Give me some colors, guys!

Is there a certain range of colors we should be picking from? Do these guys mostly come in natural colors or can they come in anything?

Dark red-orange and cream/tan then for me...maybe with a touch of dark brown thrown in?

Huh...went with semi-natural colors anyways, didn't I? *L*

Could mine be... maybe green, blue and grey on the body, and something a bit bright on those little fin thingies? Maybe rainbow or sunset or just a nice bright blue-green colour? I'm fairly open, really; I'll love it whatever you do.

Don't worry about rushing... homework has gotta come first, unless you're fairly confidant you won't get in trouble for not doing it... *was one of those people that never did it and always got away with it*

How about cream, slate/blue-grey, and rust with green eyes?
