Appearance: |
Morwenna is the eldest of a passel of five, by way of her father, Gatels and Cepeo. Though she has the willowy body of her mother, she inheritted her Selkie family's line of early silvering hair, though in locks, rather than uniformly. Contrasted against her raven dark hair, this gives her a salt-and-pepper look that suits her older-than-her-age behaviour.
Morwenna has eyes as dark as the sea can be in a storm, with faint greenish flecks in the brightest light. She's got an athletic build (though more a swimmer's body than a strength-training one) that she never the less often hunches with when forced to sit for long periods of time. Usually she has her two youngest siblings in tow, along with a flock of other children that her father officially trains. Morwenna's harrowed look, therefore, isn't altogether because of hormones and the hang-over of puberty. When with her mother, Morwenna affects a resentful attitude that only serves to make their roles of disappointed mother and precocious daughter appear reversed. |
Personality: |
Morwenna is one of the first children born at Nidus Insula, but despite this, instead of a village raising the child, Morwenna wound up being something of an ultra-responsible first-born in charge of most of the kids that were born after. Her own family is large, but other kidlets sort of volunteered themselves into it by whim of the Nidus being hella small, and mostly composed of gryphons, sea dragons, and a smattering of dragons.
This isn't to say that Morwenna has appreciated all this responsibility. She has an almost sixth sense for when someone is about to do something particularly stupid (putting a hand on a hot stove is a basic example) and this comes at the cost of being anxious all the time.
Just last year, her father brought her back to her homeworld to receive her one and only seal skin. She has had all of one opportunity to wear it since returning home, since she feels beholden to her siblings... and also hides it painfully well so none of their grubby little hands can get ahold of it.
Morwenna doesn't know what to do with her budding adulthood. She knows for certain that she doesn't want to become a mother, and she doesn't want to join the irresponsible dance troupe that her mother is a part of, even if that means traveling to the mainland and escaping her duties for a while.
Morwenna has dreams of escaping it all, diving deep and deeper into inky black depths and icy cold oceans. In these dreams, she's not her gangling human body, but that of her seal form. When she wakes, she represses these dreams, but she's scared there will come a time when she had to let go and give in to these nudges. And what will her siblings do then? |
