Halion's favourite studies come in astronomy and poetry, and he uses both to track his understanding of the human (and the drak) condition. Halion is stoic in personal interactions, but you wouldn't know it from his writing. His poems are bleeding edge and passionate, and his dissertations are compelling and ground-breaking. His astronomical breakthroughs were actually what got him noticed at Castle Timara. He was getting a little too close to the truth.

She is not so devoted to others, however. Knowing some of Castle Timara's secrets, she cannot be trusted to socialize with unpaired humans around the island. This makes her something of a damsel trapped in the ivory tower; Oobie is not completely content like Halion is to gaze at the stars all night and sleep all day. To mitigate her boredom, she poses questions of the offworlders she has ferreted out with as much subtlety as she can muster, on the surface looking to ferret out a better understanding of celestial physics and further her and her knight's understanding of the sciences. Secretly, she is trying to learn which of her fellow draks have been offworld, where that is, and what further mysteries could be learned by going there herself.
