Aderyn is the only girl of a family of five children, and it shows in the way she comports herself. She disdains any sexist treatment and goes out of her way to prove herself, or her gender, if put to any tests. She is naturally strong and has a stubborn streak a mile wide, and though she was only six when her home of origin, Star City station, was destroyed by xenodragons, she's rolled that trauma into a toughened belief that she can survive anything.
Aderyn is tall and muscular, working her upper body more than her legs (perhaps to keep up with her brothers, who found upper body strength easier.) She has dark skin and wavy black hair, as well as a delicate smattering of freckles across her face, arms, legs and body. Her eyes are dark blue. Aderyn wears relatively simple clothing, though occasionally she'll don overshirts of bright neon colours in funky patterns for special occasions. Generally, she likes to keep it subtle.
When Aderyn first arrived at Dawnwatch Weyr, she'd expected to fill in a clutch for a dragon. She had agreed to the exchange that Nidus Descendi had put together with other dragon-rider organizations in the Nexus in order to bond a creature that would help her Nidus defend its borders. Instead, she fell in love with the watch whers she met while on one of her nightly prowls.
Aderyn, without any feedback from her representatives at home, asked to be diverted into wher-training, awaiting the day that she might bond one of these creatures for herself. She believes in her community's need for defense, yes... but the whers seem thoroughly independent from the militant structure built up around Wings and Dragonriders. Aderyn, not usually impulsive, has realized that if she can introduce whers to Nidus Descendi, she can both bring a solution to subtle border patrol and make a name for herself to stand apart and above from her many brothers.
After bonding with Adrysk, she's learned more about how wher-like creatures tick, and she's proud of her own instincts... and a little humbled by Adrysk's reminders that humans are not the apex of the command structure. Still, having bonded a high-ranking wher, she's intent on helping to create a solid base with others of similar kind, and is looking for other bonders to help see her-- and Adrysk's-- vision come alive.
