Among the leviathan companions of Scylla's pod, this tiny merman is almost more like a symbiote than a true podmate, but a podmate he nevertheless is. Like Lernaea, he is versed in the ways of civilized races, but unlike the sea demon has the advantage of being small and humanoid, and thus a far better liaison for the feral pod when civilization must be dealt with. In addition, his small size and hands allow him to serve a far more mundane purpose for the pod: helping remove parasites from the larger beasts' hides.

Tidal is, himself, a quiet and easygoing sort, albeit eccentric and detached from his own people -- hence his association with a pod of monsters rather than his own kin. He does not consider himself superior to the sea monsters in any way and is very happy that he managed to be accepted into their number despite his many differences from them -- differences that don't even matter to the beasts, after all, as long as he is a productive podmate.
