As an anthro wolverine, Ilmarinen is short and stocky, resembling something like a small bear with a long tail. Her pelt is thick and shaggy, ranging through dusty yellows of both dark and light shades rather than the usual browns. Her eyes are a bright gold, narrow and squinty with both near-sightedness and an inability to see well in the bright desert sun. She wears very little outside of decorative vests and armbands, since her pelt is so thick as to cover anything worth covering.

Despite her gruff appearance, Ilmarinen possesses a wickedly sharp mind. She is unabashedly curious about anything and everything, and can go through a book a day if she has the time to spare for reading. Intelligent and witty, she has shocked many with her ability to exchange verbal repartee with the best of them, for most people can't help but expect a wolverine to be curt, fierce, and not much else.

She deeply enjoys her bond with Xese, as nothing warms the heart like a creature so innocently affectionate and in need of love.
