Fonyen can shapeshift into a human-sized anthropomorphic version of himself. His appearance in this form is fixed and he cannot alter it in any way.

A calm and affectionate child, Fonyen ended up having a very different experience with abandonment than Balatte. He couldn't understand at all why he was left behind while his bond ran away, and his logical and emotional tendencies warred with one another. For a long time, he was a very unhappy child, and ended up growing very jaded. He spent a lot of time with the cynical Bergez, along with the other abandoned clutch-dragons as he grew, and he went through an extremely unhappy period in his adolescence. But he has always in his heart wanted to regain the innocent kind of love he felt in childhood, and so he never grew entirely disillusioned with the world, and, as a young adult, he finally feels cautiously ready to take another chance. Balatte, with her enchanting sense of optimism and her unshakeable loyalty, has given Fonyen a quiet and private but very strong sense of hope. He may seem tentative and cautious at first, but that can change with time.
