Abilities: |
A trade-off occurred when Chibora's parents genetically altered them before their birth: they are completely mute, but also the most powerful psionic of their generation. When Chibora communicates, telepathically touching the mind of another, they do not do so with words, images, or any other of the usual psionic hallmarks. Talruven has described their sibling's speech as "speaking in knowledge rather than words," for they are able to impart the desired information directly into another's mind. They alter the other's thoughts in order to do so. This method of communication is as intrusive as it is disorienting, so Chibora tries to avoid "speaking" to anyone that has not been made aware of their particular flavor of psionics in advance. Relatedly, Chibora can also read the minds of others. Surface-level thoughts are picked up easily, like reading facial expressions. Though they could delve deeper, doing so would cause great mental harm to their target. It is far more an offensive skill than a communicative one. In exchange for these psionic abilities, along with having no voice, Chibora's magical skills are heavily impaired. As any daemon can, they can absorb magic from their surroundings and have an exceptional ability to absorb magic that's been specifically directed at them -- such as a magical attack -- but they have absolutely no ability to take that energy and turn it about for their own use. All they can do is absorb, consume, or release. |
Description: |
Somewhere in antiquity the Weaver clan had a mimic species other than "human", but it's tricky to identify what it may have been. Chibora is a humanoid biped of average build, walking on black cloven hooves and standing an impressive six-foot-ten. Blue-grey fur as short as velvet covers its body. Longer, darker grey fur covers its feet starting at the ankle like the feathering of a draft horse, as well as grows in a line along the outside of its forearms. Its face is of human proportions, with chiselled features, long pointed ears, and set upon an overlong neck. Its eyes have no visible sclera or pupils and are a faintly luminescent green, though it is only really noticeable in very dim light or darkness. Its tail is quite long with long, dangling fur growing from the underside and tip, and this fur is the same shade as its feathering. Its dark grey hair grows like a horse's mane in a straight line from the peak of its forehead to the base of its neck, and drops over the left side of its face and neck. Chibora dresses very simply -- some even call its wardrobe boring, as it will only wear dark greys and blacks. Primarily it dresses with high-neck cowls and baggy shorts, and wears actual shirts and long pants only in the colder seasons. Its ears are pierced with three gold rings apiece. |
Personality: |
Chibora is a very quiet kind of person, and not just because they're a mute. They prefer to have a supporting role in life, helping and looking out for others, though they're somewhat lacking in awareness of when it's actually appropriate to do so. There have been a handful of times where Talruven has had to hold Chibora back to keep them from stopping something that would really be better off happening. Though they are incredibly intelligent, they have little in the way of ambition. They find all their fulfillment in service of others. Bonding had not been entirely their idea, nor were they talked into it with something like ulterior motives. Talruven them nudged them in that direction to give them someone they could focus on to exclusion -- or at least, to have someone distracting them from Jaeros more often! |
