The self-styled Battleworn Claw is fierce, vicious, and all-in-all wholly Wyld... except when his Callidei has pounced him. Though he'll stubbornly growl and insist he's still Wyld, he's also ferociously protective of the Avengaean crossbreed. He has little tolerance or patience for anyone else but her, and she's also the only one who he allows to call him Cyris.

Growing up has been an emotional as well as a physical progression for him. The aimless, unbiased rage of a just-hatched baby dragon can't hold up for long when it has no motivation other than his own perceived ferocity, and more so when Callidei actively works to mellow him out. He's still on the sour and grumpy side and doesn't answer to 'Cyris' from anyone but her, but he cooperates with life on the Destiny rather than actively rebel against it. He's even learning to protect it because it matters to Callidei, so if it's important to her it's grudgingly important to him. And who knows? Maybe he doesn't actually dislike everyone else as much as he lets on.

Despite the closeness of their relationship and his dedication to her, Claw does not consider Callidei to be his mate, nor does she think so of him. She has plans to one day use their genetics in a biosynth to which he has willingly agreed (what better to practice with than herself?), but they remain tightly platonic partners and not a romantic connection.
