Funny Words.

Post by Starburst »

Just out of boredom:

What is the word (or phrase, or words) that makes you LAUGH like heck every time you hear it?

I have to think about mine first, but first I want to know yours!

Spontaneous Human Combustion.

Every Single Time I hear this phrase I bust up. It's THE most ridiculous thing in the world... "sure, you lost 3 hours, and found that your hand had burnt off. Could it have had SOMETHING to do with the fact that you were BLIND DRUNK and SMOKING??" :D

O.o I can't think of any /words/ that make me laugh my butt off consistently, though Whenever I listen to dragostea din tei, it makes me grin vigorously! XD

One scene from Drop Dead Gorgeous (a mockumentary about becoming a beauty queen--if you haven't seen it, you must! It's hilarious!) makes me laugh so hard I cry, though, no matter how often I've seen it.... just... the part where Hank runs in from offscreen, in the background, and smacks into the window... I know it's a horrible thing to laugh at, but I cannae help it. X3333 The whole movie's highly amusing, though.

Ham.

Yes, I laugh at the word "ham". But only when my younger sister says it. She has this eccentric way of saying that single normal word that gets me laughing even just thinking about it.

I fell out of my chair in a giggle fit last Thanksgiving when she told me to 'pass the ham'.
Database Being Revamped

'Epic' is most concisely defined as something that, were you to do it in view of a person in real life, they'd pretty much have to sleep with you immediately to maintain order in the universe.
I sneezed. It seems to have reshaped reality. My bad.

I hate it when words like, WORD, start to look wrong. Like you've spelled them incorrectly?

Dragon - yeah, even dragon sometimes looks weird to me. Because sometimes I try spelling other words, and they come out DRAGON. :)

Boo-boo, in reference to defecating. My manager used it today ("My nephew has a rabbit and I hate it, it boo-boo's everywhere!") and I swear, I was on my knees, dying of laughter. I've never heard it used that way before!

I think it's also because that's my dog Scout's nickname. All my animals have nicknames. My male cat Sunny is Mr. Man (because he's the only male animal we have), the calico female Hallie is Fat Baby (because she's... extremely fat), and my rabbit Jolie I call Pretty Girl or Miss Priss (she's quite full of herself... for a rabbit).

Used to call Scout Boobie but stopped when I realized what boobie meant ('round the time I started growing 'em XD) Shortened it to Boo-Boo and... well, I've trailed off.

Come to think of it, boobie is an odd word as well. o.o;

Anything with 'hypo' in it, such as hypocrit, hypocritical etc.

Hypo reminds me of hippo. And I find hippos very funny. Why? Dunno. The word chair is funny as well. Not sure why either. It's usually only when a few of my friends say it that I find it funny.

*wince* Someone named their rock something much like that when I was at camp (Not remember exactly.) And then there was the other rock, Mildred, but that's not exactly on track...

Words......more like phrases, really...

"Kill the hobbits!"

"I'm calling for a pizza." (yes, really.)

"Thesaurus" (Yea, that too.)

"Balrog" (You really don't want to know...)

I finally came up with mine:

Crazy Donuts.

I don't know why that makes me laugh so hard; perhaps it's the fact that you don't expect a donut to be crazy (unless you're talking about when cars spin out, but it's still funny).

Written words don't usually affect me unless it's in a scene that I can picture. I have to be able to 'hear' it in my head.

But there are phrases that can set me off when said. Mostly because of something a friend said/did and it triggers the memory.

Like a friend of mine was playing a strategy/fighting vid as a fem and said in a deep gravely fake Scottish accent, "Itsh Greeaat ta be a woman!"
I nearly busted my arm because I nearly fell off my chair laughing.
~He's was Very Tipsy & nobody could Ever confuse Him for a fem.~
When lost, turn around... You prolly just walked in a circle.
