New Clutch at Mirus (sorta)

As indicated by my post in the Breedables Database Babble thread, I want to run an actual clutch with the most recent image I've drawn. Unfortunately, I don't actually have that section of the new Mirus site up yet, because I've been paging all my giveaway dragons and relocating dragons from the old server.

So, for the time being, the clutch is here. It's most just info here anyway, so it hardly makes any difference, right? The hatching and the records and so on will be up on Mirus, when said hatching actually happens.

Now for the real info:

The parents of this clutch are Gold-Fire Allorath Rufasilex and Green-Brown Bokuhi Usadah.

This makes the babies 1/4 Fire Aven, 1/4 Earth Aven, 3/8 Old World and 1/8 Danachian.

The Old World genetics includes a few mutations, namely Dhumdhuanath and a few part-whites. And a hint of inbreeding... A full pedigree will be provided with the hatching story and pickup.

A sample of what they'll look like, although not necessarily in this colouration, is:

Since they're of Old World and Danachian descent, there's gonna be at least a loose ranking to these babies when they hatch; there'll probably be a general theme of Old World and Danachian colours, but largely the colouring will depend on the Candidates.

Because these guys need bonds, due to said Old World and Danachian descent. They'll be bonding as soon as they break out of their eggs. And this would be where you guys come in. Bring on the Candidates!

* Like TyGryph, I'd like to insist that Candidates be able to either ride on or fly with their dragon. So said Candidate needs either wings or hands/feet capable of gripping onto a dragon. Geckos are, therefore, acceptable. As long as it's a sentient gecko.

* Candidate needs to be on a page of some kind, obviously. You guys know all about that anyway.

* For this clutch, I'm going to say there has to be a story. It doesn't have to be long, so long as it gives a clear idea of the Candidate's personality. With that said, I'm not opposed to reading long stories either. I enjoy reading. Whether you have a stat page to go with the story or not is up to you.

* Deadline for Candidates is... 10th February? Is that too long or two short?

Most of that is geography and a little bit of history.

The place where the actual bonding occurs is Mirus Fortress, which is more a load of tunnels and caverns than an actual Fortress. There's mostly dragons and humans living there, but a few other races in very small numbers. The general attitude of the Fortress is one of open hostility towards the Elnaesii (a race of elves from a neighbouring world using Mirus as a passageway to raid even more worlds for resources), and amiable tolerance of the main Mirus civilisations (Bryquaine, Acharon and Rindel being the main three).

The most recent events of note are the raid and (possible) destruction of an Elnaesii stronghold north-west of the Fortress, and the construction of a magical shield bubble over Bryquaine. Because of the former, the Fortress is currently in high spirits, and related to the latter, there's a lot of spooky things going on in Bryquaine. Also, the Arnaith Archipelago (where Phyrodien went to live with all those female Taurs!) is currently floating above the Fortress, but not yet interacting. Namely because I haven't decided how they're going to react to each other yet.

In terms of characters, there's always the Searchers, Pernese blues and greens and their riders. Very basic info on them; they came from Shard's Alabastor and Blackstone Giveaway.

The lead unbonded dragon is N'theran ty Taviel Drassen, leader of the Alamyr Mirus dragon tribe. He's a big, ancient copper oxide. He looks and smells like an old rug, and is hardly more than skin, bones and patchy fur, but is still highly intelligent. He's pretty much the ambassador between the local tribe of Mirus dragons and all the new inhabitants, dragon or otherwise, and he often keeps an eye on any Candidates at the Fortress, as well as advising them if need be. The leaders of the Fortress itself are Kathamus and Rheyanva. Kathamus is the 'warleader' as it were; he's quite sensible for his race, but his race itself is widely known for being rather... silly. He's a good enough leader, but it doesn't change the fact that he'd rather be having a party than actually doing any work. He has strong, but rather unpredictable fire magic. His bond his silver Khasrynth, who's significantly smarter and more sensible than Kathamus himself is. Rheyanva is the leader of the Fortress itself, while Kathamus leads the fighting forces. She's rather devious and cunning by nature, and it's because of this that her temper is something to be watched; she gets revenge or fixes problems by sneaky routes when she can. Her plans tend to be overly complicated. She can also be rather arrogant, and she always expects things to go her way. But she's got a good heart, and even when it doesn't seem like she's being nice, her overall plan is usually for the best. At least from her unique perspective, anyway. So feel free to interact with whoever takes your fancy, really.

Phyrodien, Rhailetja and their dragons are on the Arnaith Archipelago, rather than in the Fortress itself, so unless your Candidate stowed away on the Archipelago while it was being repaired at Driolo, it's unlikely your Candidate would meet those two. But otherwise, free reign.

All in all, not everything's heavily developed yet, so even if you botch it up a bit, it probably wouldn't matter. And hey, if I like your botches I'll probably officially include them, assuming you don't mind me yoinking your botches...

Just a general note that there's about a week left til the deadline for this clutch. Also, it's open to sponsors and old characters that have already bonded in the past, so long as they're physically capable of looking after a dragon and have some story. I've only got two Candidates so far, which means unless I get some more in the next week, it's gonna ba a very short hatching story...

Another note: today is the day of the deadline. But because I'm at least five hours ahead of the rest of you, I won't close this until... whenever I get up tomorrow morning. That will be midnight for you guys over on the western edge of the US (sorry, can't remember the name of your timezone).

Then I'll colour the images and run the hatching tomorrow. And then... who knows?

I wrote about half of a story, it was pretty good, I saved it on a school computer, and ... logged out while COMPLETELY forgetting to email it to myself. I hurriedly log back in, but it's too late, the system automatically deletes crap you save on the school computers once you log out.

GUH.

Ah well, no big deal, I can start over. Just annoying is all.

Any Other Comments/Information: These dragons are SO pretty! I had to bond one for ME! Muahaha! Sorry the ending of the story is so blatantly rushed, but I really wanted to submit on time. Hope you like her! You know I've never really written from Astra's pov before. It was fun. Oh, and the stats page has a crapload of backstory you may or may not find interesting, but the actual storybit can be found from the menu, where under story it says "1". You probably knew that but I just wanted to make sure that you knew that the crapload of backstory isn't the story itself. Woot.
