Who's interested in going to a Nexus convention?

Post by Wanderer »

I figured it'd help things alot to have a seperate thread listing who wants to actually go instead of wading through the RL Locations thread. I'll edit this post as people reply.

So, who all would want to go to a Nexus convention?

I'd be interested, but I'm wondering.. would this JUST be a Nexus convention, or could it be a general cyberadoption convention? Truth be told, I don't know anyone here very well, and it'd be nice to meet everyone at one event instead of having to organize several >_>

I would! I'm broke as anything though (and broke on talent as well), so I'm not sure how I'd make it, but it'd be great to finally meet some of you people. Especially after having talked with some of you for 6 or 7 years now. =)

Me go. How about we make it initially Nexus peoples, and then if the rest of us have friends who are into cyberadoption but aren't a Nexus "member", we can invite them as speshul guests? :3

If we do this I think we should make it at a time when most everyone can go...*really wants to go, is checking prices on Priceline so she can figure out how much it would cost!*

By 'convention' do you really mean 'gathering of people we know'? Because 'conventions' are expensive - like in the tens of thousands of dollars to rent a hall (even a small one).

I'd be far more interested in a little road trip or two or three, as we can manage. I'm sure not all of us will be able to get away from work at once, or school, etc.

It's been said (xalia? who?) Summer would be best, and I agree because that'd give enough time to arrange as needed. Still, please be careful about what gets said and insisted upon this early in stage of bringing people together.

Most of us *can't* donate. Only a few of us have regular jobs to get vacation time away from. many have parents who would object to meeting a bunch of people from the internet. So... One step at a time. Please.

I think "convention" is a figure of speech, more a gathering of friends. Heck, I know some people who at meets and such just like rent cabins at governmental parks and hang out there, or go on a road trip to places.

Shard's right. I'm with her here -- road trip sounds ideal to me! But finances are tight, with college and all, and I have to pay more next year..>.> If I had a job, I'd start saving up now, but... eh.

I wouldn't mind going, I can even pick up folks on the east coast! Though I can only take about four more in my little car... and we'd definately have to do a pool for gas money.

Road trip! Hee! ^__^

I was thinking more room-wise (if anyone else needs a lift - I can fit four more, but it would be quite tight for those in the back seat unless one of ya is tiny XD) but if duct-tape and handcuffs suits you, then...

I keed! XDDD

*cackles* X3 I'd love to do this...a plane ticket would cost me around $350. ;_; And a hotel another $600 or so...XP About $1100 for transport and board.

I want to go...and yeah, Shard, I'm the one who mentioned summer...there's just no way I can afford to take off from work during the school year...so we've got lots of time to plan this and make it both feasible and as cheap as possible...

Would it make more sense if we all met in the middle of the country then drove up to find the Canadians?

I'd totally do this.... I'm an east-coaster!

But I just don't know how I'd get the money (get a job? What?).... maybe I could convince my parents to do something in the vicinity at the same time so I could get transport? XD

What we really need is a lot of tents and someone who didn't mind a ton of crazies camped out in their yard... O_O

D00d, I so totally had that brainwave! I have camping gear, three-man tent, the whole shbang. If one of the people we're driving toward (because I assume there's an ultimate house/location we'll be meeting at) wouldn't mind donating their yard(s) to us, we could just have a giant Nexus camp-out! That completely eliminates lodging. ^^

Or we could rent a van and some folks could sleep in the van. But here I'm talking like I've got more than a thousand bucks to my name. XD

*Looks shifty at the money remark*
Well, if most peeps were'nt so far I'd see if't be possible as we own about 140 acres.... :D

A camping out thing does sound to be the cheapest option though.

*snorks* I think it's more an issue of "who wants to go that can afford it, and who wants to go but can't?" at this point. I mean, I'd /love/ to meet up with everyone, sit in a corner and have some mad-art-warzzz, etc, but /getting/ there is really a problem. O_o' I can hardly afford apples, let alone airplanes! XD

XDD I must say camping would be ideal for me. I might have sharing-small-space issues if we got hotel rooms. ^^;;

MAN this would be cool if we could pull it off.

...I think we might turn the neighborhood of whoever donates their yard to us upside-down with the inevitable parties and craziness, though. XDDD

Hah, yeah right. xD I'm sure we're such rowdy partiers. Faaaaaaar worse then those tame drunken teenagers you hear about once in a while. X3 Certainly, we outstrip those fratboys no problem! (>_>" Was that a rotten pun or what?)
