Since I'm not very good at this kind of battle-type stuff, what would be better?
Prides organized with at least one of each magic type in it.
Prides organized by magic type (so all fire, all earth, ect).
Does the Aeire Triad (Mother and her Daughters) fight or are they kind of like the Queen's Wing?
Just wondering? I can't seem to be satisfied with my Prides at Arminas. *sighs*

I think either arrangement would be fine depending on the hierarchy of your Aerie. It also depends on the actual threats facing your location. If you're likely to face threats that are resistant to multiple types at once, then you're better off having mixed prides, but if it's fairly predictable then you can have single-magic prides.
I'm pretty sure the Aerie Mother and Daughters are likely to fight alongside their consorts and families, but again Alskyr is fairly loose so you can do whatever you want so long as you can justify it. (I tend to picture them as slightly more Amazonian than anything, charging in with their Prides at their heels or acting more as battle commanders and staying back directing movements.)

Though I have no idea what threats Alskyr faces, I would assume that having a pride largely proficient at one kind of magic, but with one or two other types to cover their arses would make the most sense. If you have a completely evenly spread variety of magic, none of them can build off of one another effectively -- why would they even be on a team? But if you have a larger concentration of one type of magic, their strengths can work together, while a few supports can cover any weaknesses that the main group might sustain.
It's like training your pokemon team to take on a particular gym leader: if you're going up against an electric type, you're not going to take one plant, one water, one rock, one fire, one normal, etc. You plan your team around that challenge's strengths and try to cover the weak points for any unexpected shifts in battle strategy.

That's kind of what I'm thinking, Dray. The gryphons fight the ants mostly - the dragons fight the spores of the rampage plant. I think one of my problems is that I've always found it hard to visulize fighting these things after being stuck on Pern for so long. LOL Thread I can picture easily.
Perhaps I group them all by power type and have the naturals (the gryphons I have that never specialized in a magic type) be the 'backup' types. I think it would be easier for the AeireLord to send out, say, Earth or Water types to contain the ants then have the others come in and kick some butt. lol. THAT I can picture. heehee. Maybe have the AeireMother leading the mind types as reinforcemnt - like a Queens Wing.
Okay, off to play with some lineart...thanks.
