Back and Forth Project?

Post by Dray »

Pass-Along Project

A breeding project: using your own pool of dragons and/or The Breedables Database, draw a clutch of dragons. The next person in the list gets to pick from the clutch to breed with one of their dragons (repeat as necessary!) to achieve an end result. (Note that we don't have a deadline for clutches to be drawn yet. If one needs to be imposed, we can set one up.)

Below are various projects in motion. Sign up for one to join in! (Asterisks (*) denote who is currently responsible for drawing a new clutch.)

Markings Madness
Creating dragons with progressively more exotic markings with each generation from owned 'stock'.
Aireona

*Unyko
Rachael
Mud

Pit Dragons
Creating dragons on a spectrum of flight vs. fight, aiming towards dragons prone towards fighting.
Rachael
Dray
Aireona
*Mud

Fuzzy Dragons
Starting from hairless dragons, aim to slowly create more and more fuzzy dragons through the generations.
*Xalia
Rachael

Want to start a new project? Poke me. XD I'll edit this post.
**You CAN be in more than one project at a time, but don't take more than you can handle!**

Well, not that I don't have tons of other stuff hanging in the air (**cough cough**)... but I would be interested.

The lack of dragon activity has gotten slightly depressing. :P

I'd be interested too - though *snerks* I've a current lack of dragon site, and the only consistent dragon anything I run is YWIAW.

Same deal for me, Airy... XD But agh, I just want to do something that's light and repetitive in a fun way, if that makes sense!

Um, we could probably take from our pools of adopted dragons for breeding purposes, or from the Breedables Database. I wasn't thinking so much that we'd need dragonries from which to distribute the images; or even that we'd -have- to have huge clutches. We could always draw a single dragon, or small group of dragons, and pass them on to the next person. X3

I'm not sure about themes, though perhaps we could make this project a round robin if more than one person wants in on it? (Or if there's too many people to have the project pass back and forth quickly enough, we could have a couple of projects in the tubes?)

Any particular themes you want to try out, Airy? X3 I know you like love-bird colours and awesome markings... maybe we could try for some combination of that?

I know I wouldn't mind trying to do a long sort of zodiac theme... try to find dragons that match corresponding chinese (or western) zodiacs and breed them with the current dragon. Spend a few generations getting as close as possible to each one, and then moving on towards the next one?

XD God that'd be complicated.

I do <3 lovebird colorations, but I think going for more exotic markings would be more interesting in this case. :)

As far as other themes go, I think your zodiac idea sounds pretty interesting. More fun cause I wouldn't have thought of it myself.

Another possible theme (which has been kind of swimming around in my head for a while) might be something like the modern "elements." Which I tend to think of as things like nuclear power, electricity, etc... that might be hard to do here though.

I am pretty much up for anything!

XD Want to start off with markings for now? (I think a classical elements line could be fun, too. :P Breeding normal elements together usually gives some funky hybrids!)

What pool do you want to stick to in terms of 'what can I breed?' Just the dragons that we've adopted, or just breedables database, or any other considerations?

Wow, that sounds like fun. o.o I'd volunteer, but it seems like I've been beaten to the punch. XD *pull out hammock to relax and wait to see what comes of this*

Like I was saying, we could do a round-robin, each taking a turn. Or we could each make clutches and pick and choose from amongst one-anothers to work generationally that way, too. XD It would be very neat to see how this would work cyclically.

I think working off of our own dragons and the breedables database would probably provide enough traits. If we had to, we could ask for dragon donations... :P

And it would be totally fun to have a few different artists putting out draggies! Plus, that might give us all enough of a break between clutches to keep with it for a bit longer.

Mmmmmm. That'd be super!fun. Can has in? :D

I'm gonna be better able to work on stuff at the beginning of next month (though the time between now and then is gonna be full of packing and movie across country!), so I'll probably also be getting some of my long-overdue clutches out there, too. ^.^;

Sweet! :D Want to start first? If I go first I'll probably do something fairly plain in order to give us a simple base to start with. XD

I've updated the first post to make this more official! :D Unyko, Rachael, Xalia, I didn't know if you wanted into the markings-based project itself or just wanted to sign up, so I left your names off for now. If anybody wants to start up a new project, lemme know and I'll be happy to keep tabs in the first post so long as everybody gives me a heads-up in this thread when something new happens.

(If you want to start up a new project, it doesn't have to be themed, btw! ^_^)

Oh man. I just realized I've already got, like, four generations worth of dragons to scan/color for my own breeding project. XD They're all made of shiny rainbows and darkness. *snrk*

You can add me to the markings one though! That sounds awesome. X3

(*will do her own project in between, a little at a time*)

Totally!

Doesn't have to be shiny, either. :3 I'm hoping that this will just be for fun, so if you don't want to do a massive super-refined template, that's all good.

I think it'd be fun to do the Patterns/Markings project, though I'd also love a project which focused on breeding fighting dragons, out of perhaps an animal which simply relies on speed to keep itself safe.

/curious, and off to post on YWIAW LJ

Ooh, that is a nifty idea! :D How do you mean, specifically? Looking for slight, speedy dragons and then breeding bulkier, mangrier dragons into their line?

Yes, and (I read that as man-angrier dragons, like RAGE dragons XD) - changing over the drawn generations from a creature of flight and fright to stay and fight, getting more and more specialized for battle against, well, anything, including members of its own kind. *dork*

O_o That really would be cool! XD I guess depending on how fast you want the change to happen, plotting out the breedings ahead of time might be the best way to go about it?

I think a certain amount of forethought is key, but also, I'm not a stickler for the particulars of how.

...Though I admit my bias against multiple-headed beings would say that ultimately, those divisions probably would be fun offshoot breedings, rather than main line breedings. (*such a picky hydra fan*)
