A different kind of art?

Post by DragonFlight »

Well, I have this little hobby when I go to anime conventions.... I cosplay. If you don't know what that is, it's me dressing up as a character from anime or video game or something. Well, I'm going to Otakon next week and I'm cosplaying as Empress Youko from Juuni Kokki.

Now, I really get into my cosplay, very often building or making props that go with the character. I'll show the whole costume when it's done, but here's a teaser I think you'll get a kick out of.

This is Suiguutou, one of the Imperial treasures which belongs to Youko. XD Spiffy, eh? It's make from craft foam, balsa wood and a dowel rod. And alot of metallic paint. ^.^ It's longer than my arm.

'Epic' is most concisely defined as something that, were you to do it in view of a person in real life, they'd pretty much have to sleep with you immediately to maintain order in the universe.
I sneezed. It seems to have reshaped reality. My bad.

I've got no idea who that character is, but the sword is lovely! Good work!

My ex-coworker does a lot of cosplay and cross-play, but I don't think he's going to make it to that con as he just got a job at a game store so....

I can't wait to see your whole costume!

Woah, cool! Pity I don't know the anime it came from...

My brother cosplayed as Cloud from FF7 once, and he made a life-sized wooden replica of his sword. It was huge, but very cool.

This was originally Mystic, version 2, the Beanie Baby. ^^;; I made it prettier.

Wow, that's well done. I couldn't even tell it was a Beanie Baby (and I have two beds and a box full of the things). Looks really nice! (Pretty sheath.)
