Now that makes /sense/... (Impression)

Post by Samber »

I stumbled across this site entirely by accident, and while I'm not big on fanfiction (at least not in that quantity!) and the dragons just don't look right to me...

It's got pretty much the most sense-making analysis of Impression I've ever seen. And it ignores most of A.M's stupid out-of-book comments, which is of course a good thing, while actually coming up with something that does fit with the series.

(I believe that's the correct address...school blocks it as a 'game'. Odde. <.<)

Anyone else think that this is a very neat thing, or am I just weird? :)

*points* I read that! And you're right, it does a marvelous job of explaining Impression. :) Plus it's just a really good story.

That's a really cool and interesting site.

However
A further dialogue with Anne, the controversial "Tent Peg" interview, states, "if circumstances arose, and a green dragon chose a heterosexual lifemate... Well, he would become homosexual. It's a proven fact that a single anal sex experience causes one to be homosexual". This asinine and ignorant notion severely damages the author's credibility on the subject, and it would seem prudent to ignore statements made outside the novels themselves
Um, WHAT? Where did Ms. McCaffrey get an idea like THAT? That's got to be the stupidest thing I've EVER heard. I guess everyone who's ever been in Stereotypical Prison and got out on parole was never interested in a girl for the rest of their lives, then, hmm?  Gawd that's a dumb theory. It makes gayness sound like a fraking STD.

Also I mention this in the other thread, but brownriders seem to be shafted entirely. It says pretty clearly that brown dragons choose straight males, but with the exception of Canth browns only fly greens. And greenriders are all gay males. So once brownie flies greenie, does mr. brownrider automatically become gay no matter what even though brownie chose him due to his straightness? Stupid theory. Stab.

Yah, I thought that was a dumb move, myself, the whole gay thing. And to throw another log on the fire, what if a woman has "a single anal sex experience" What does that make her? A gay male? Um. NO.

----

AND, I'm having another themed clutch at Ryslen, I've just decided. "Purebred" Pernese, and no male candidates are invited -- perhaps to the extent that no non-dragonrider males are allowed on the Grounds that day --at all--... *ponders*
If you catch me on AIM (thecrazytiger) please send me a quick note and remind me your name on there. It has been so long since I used that chat medium, I'm staring blankly at my list and not knowing who's actually there. >.<

I'm sooo sending you candis for that. :)

And regarding the anal sex thing...if it's that good, why isn't everyone doing it, all the time? (Or am I once again a complete and utter outsider...) Obviously, she's got more than a couple wacky notions. <.<

Yeah, she's said a lot of really assinine things in a lot of her interviews. I'd...really never want to meet her.

And I'd definitely send bonders for that!

Hah, nice. I like the explanations. It makes me want to go back through my secondary world and prod at the Drakkar to make sure I have things making sense so that I don't go and put my foot in my mouth every two seconds.

... though I haven't developed the Drakkar far enough to actually have much on them. Just that they're called the Drakkar, any who bond with them are called Drakkonars, Drakkonars inherit magic from their Drakkar, and are only present (in force) in the Dacelar Kingdom because that's where the Drakkar nests and habitat is.

In fact, the Dacelar Kingdom exists because of the Drakkonars and the Drakkar. .... I really hope none of my scribbled notes that are laying around hold huge inconsistancies..
