Riddle Me This!

Post by StarFyre »

Phew, the last one. Sorry about all of this lag, folks!

Previous Information

Image

As you may have guessed already, this is a female Loekairen. The females lack the feathers of their male counterparts, but that seems to be the end of the attribute differences. They can come in as many colours as the males and possess the same range of magic. Runes mark the type of magic that a Loekairen can use There are several different types that will be expanded upon later.

For this weeks bit of enjoyment, here's the continuing story of What's Really Going On: http://silveredmagic.com/akelara/loekairii.html#2" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Image

This is a male Loekairen. Males and females are sexually dimorphic, meaning that size and certain traits vary between the two. In this example, you can see one of the physical differences. Males have long, peacock-like feathers sprouting from their foreheads and off the tip of their (extremely long) tail.

The colouration of the feathers usually mimicks the body colour, though tends to be a shade or two darker. These feathers do not denote any sense of supremecy over other males. Rather, its the markings of the hide that allow one to gauge the strength of individual Loekairen. Stripes, spots, runes, and other patterns are judged according to rarity. Runes are especially favoured since they mark a magic-wielding Loekairen.

Here's a small storyblurb of what's going on in the Nexus, especially in Clan Akelara: http://silveredmagic.com/akelara/loekairii.html#1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

These babies are called Loekairen, plural being Loekairii. They're tricksters of the ultimate sort - cunning, conniving, and very much quirk-some. They live to cause mischief and (to some extent) mayhem wherever they go, and they've had their meddlesome lil paws involved in the Nexus for some time now... or at least their genes. Every hybrid has to come from somewhere, yes?

To get one, all you have to do is answer one of 10 riddles that we will be posting in the weeks to come. You can answer more than one, and those that answer correctly will receive "special" things for their Loekairen. Tease your brain and try to answer all 10!

When you think you have your answer, email it to either Mystic (mystic_dragon84@yahoo.ca) or Starfyre (silveredmagic@yahoo.com). There is no upper limit on attempts. BUT there is also no posting of answers in this tread! Anyone caught cheating will be disqualified! Once we have determined that the riddle has gone on long enough, we will update this post with the answer and post a new riddle.

If you have any questions, get in contact with either Mystic or Starfyre.

Last Week's Riddle:
Only one color, but not one size,
Stuck at the bottom, yet easily flies.
Present in sun, but not in rain,
Doing no harm, and feeling no pain.
What is it?

Answer:
A Shadow!

This Week's Riddle:
A dozen Royals gathered round, Entertained by two who clowned.
Each King there had servants ten, Though none of them were also men.
The lowest servant sometimes might, Defeat the King in a fair fight.
A weapon stout, a priceless jewel, The beat of life, a farmer's tool.
What are we talking about here folks?

I'd noticed those banners. -wrigglewriggle- I want!

The first thing i thought of was a book or a story, but that's probably wrong.

I'm almost positive it's not a book.

I'm almost positive it's paper... but that may be because I'm just weird that way.

Coming back to this after several hours away at dinner and a movie, I'm still sticking to my "riddle" answer. Even if I'm wrong, I like the irony. X3 The answer to a riddle...being "riddle". If I'm wrong, I'll have to use that somewhere, myself. XD

We're both evil like that. *innocent grin*

Starry likes being evil and withholding information from the general population.

Is using the internet as a search engine a valid way of answering the riddles? Because if it isn't, I give up before emailing. XD I peeked.

Eeeeeh... that is technically cheating. These are supposed to be riddles. Yanno, typical scratch your head and give it a shot kinda thing? If everyone uses the net to find answers, what's the point?

Dur... I just emailed from the AAM account and didn't put my name in it. >.> Sorry.
If you catch me on AIM (thecrazytiger) please send me a quick note and remind me your name on there. It has been so long since I used that chat medium, I'm staring blankly at my list and not knowing who's actually there. >.<
