Muahahaha. This thread is solely for the proliferation and sharing of favorite recipes. :) Ultimately, I'd like to put a web-cookbook together with all the recipes (and appropriate credits) so that those of us going to college or leaving home for the first time will have a nice selection of easy-to-make food that won't break the budget. Not all the recipes will be cost-friendly ... but, most of them can be made by anyone with little to no talent. :) So, if you have a mighty-fine recipe ... post it here! :D

Follow the format below:
-Title-
(what's it called?)

-Tools-
(what will you need to make it happen?)

-Ingredients-
(what do you need to make it?)

-Directions-
(what do you do with the ingredients?)

-Optional-
(other things to do to spice up the dish in a unique way and alternate preparation methods :))

-Title-
Above-Average Ramen

-Tools-
Frying Pan (or a George Foreman Grill (tm))
Saucepan
Fork
Knife (a butter knife will do :))

-Ingredients-
Water
1 packet instant noodles
Meat (beef, chicken, pork ... yes, tofu counts :))
Veggies (snow peas are good ... but carrots, broccoli, and bean sprouts will also work)

-Directions-
1. Cook the meat in the frying pan. Cut it into small chunks for easy eating; set aside, ideally in a microwave to keep it warm.
2. Bring water to a boil. Put instant noodles and flavoring packet in.
3. While noodles are cooking, sauteé vegetables (and/or heat tofu).
4. When noodles are done, add meat and vegetables and simmer for a few minutes to soak the flavor through.
5. Enjoy!

-Optional-
*Marinate meat in teriyaki or soy sauce (or, pick any kind of oriental sauce, like hot mustard or plum sauce). Mix and match flavors for something unique.

*Add sesame seeds and/or sesame oil and use only 1/2 packet of seasoning.

*Drain the noodles and mix them with the vegetables and meat; chill overnight for an interesting noodle 'salad'. Instead of using the flavoring packet, drizzle some peanut oil-based salad dressing on top.

*This can be made in a microwave. You'll need precooked meat, however, and a large microwavable bowl. If you have tupperware (even the cheap Ziploc stuff), you can put a small amount of water in there, with the veggies, then put the lid on partway and microwave until they're soft. Prepare the ramen in the microwavable bowl, add the meat and veggies, and let it sit for a while. And that's it! :)

A recipe I learned in sixth grade home-ec and have been improving on ever since.

-Title-
Mayonnaise Muffins!

-Tools-
Muffin pan
Whisk
Mixing bowl

-Ingredients-
2 cups of self-rising flour (like Bisquick)
1 cup of milk
2 ROUNDED tablespoons of mayo (Rounded is important. Scrape it off flat and you won't have enough, the muffins will be dry and crumbly)

-Directions-
Put all ingredients into your bowl and mix them just enough moisten the flour. Grease your muffin tin and divide the mix between 12 cups. Cook in 450 degree oven for ten minutes! They're done when a toothpick poked into the middle comes out clean.

-Optional-
Add diced pre-cooked ham and two or three crumbled up pieces of cheese, and slightly undercook the muffins. (Pull out after maybe eight minutes, give or take) You'll have ham and cheese muffins with bits of mayo inside! It's okay to undercook, the mayo takes the place of egg and oil. You could also substitute any kind of pre-cooked meat instead of ham!

Double the recipe and use a bread loaf pan to get a mayonnaise loaf. (Cook it a bit over for this one. Around 15 minutes.)

And a second I used for a project in Horticulture. (it's a bit sketchy, haven't made it in a while but I remember it was really, really good)

-Title-
Orange Carrot Cake

-Tools-
Two mixing bowls
Cake pan (glass works best)
Electric beater (or whisk with extra time)

-Ingredients-
Box of carrot cake mix (It's best to also read the box and make sure you'll have what the basic cake needs. I don't have a box handy to read :\)
Eggs?
Vegetable oil?
Small can of frozen concentrated orange juice
Vanilla frosting (cream cheese works too)
Orange flavoring
Small can of mandarin orange slices

-Directions-
Follow the directions on the cake mix box. Instead of using only water, thaw the orange juice mix and mix about a third with the water. Keep following directions on the box! While the cake's in the oven, we'll make our orange frosting.

-Scoop out however much frosting you think you'll need into a second bowl. A small tub usually worked.
-Mix in about a third of the orange flavoring and stir well. Mix in more to taste if you think this is not enough. Since the flavoring doesn't color the frosting, you could also add a few drops of food coloring if you really want it to be orange. ^^
-Set in the fridge until the cake's done.

Once the cake is out, let it cool before frosting. When that's done, you can decorate the top with the mandarin slices. Mandarin's work best because they're small, but you could probably use nectarines or other small, orange-like fruits as well. Even a small grapefruit!

-Optional-
Make your own fresh orange juice to use in the mix. It's a little more work, but the cake seems to taste twice as good!
