Random Idea/Thought

Not sure if I'll ever get around to this with everything else I want/have to do, but I've had this idea ever since Baskar first started and since I wasn't able to use it I still have that idea.

I was thinking about starting a world or something that had dragons but the dragons were more like horses - not in build but in use and intelligence. (Still debating on whether or not to make them wingless for a change...) This world would treat the dragon like a horse is here - used for work, play, showing, ect, and is trained and handled in the same way. Saddles, bridals, bits (probably snaffles though I want to design them so this isn't much of a problem as they are carnivores...) - the whole shabang! (I think riding my horse is starting to get to me or something...oh well...at least he was the one that smacked his nose on the fan that day because he wasn't paying attention where he was goin! :P)

Anyway, that is my idea though don't sit on my lawn...okay, parents lawn, waiting for it to happen. I have lots of other things to get done and finsihed before I work on anouther wild idea - and since the internet is crawling and not behaving latley, this won't be for a while...(Tried working on one of my generators for the elves of Anar but it won't work and I can't find a single thing wrong with the stript...even brought it into Dreamweaver! Keeps saying it can't find arrays that ARE in there...*ends ranting*)

I like the idea. My Zekiran dragons (not the imported ones, but the ones who are actually bred there) are similar, they're war beasts and little more in most cases. Though the zekiran ones aren't *ridden*, they're commanded.

I like the idea too. I've been thinking of something similar - I even have an image I've been working on (and it is actually wingless), but I doubt I'll go anywhere with it, except maybe my own story purposes.

I'd love to see you do something with the the idea, if you get the time!

I sort of had that with the K'naars on Znorlia, being Draconic but non-sentient and used as riding animals. I was going to offer them for adoption but all my images sucked (sad but true) and I'll probably never get around to it so don't worry about me ganking the idea or whatever :lol: But I think that would be cool, though I'm not sure how much demand there'd be for story-candidates to adopt a nonsentient creature. In a stats sheet or give-away format though I think it would be very successful ^^

More of a comment to your scripting error - it sounds to me like you might have a scoping error or two in your coding, if you created your arrays but it can't locate them.
I don't have acripting syntax but here's a basic idea.

If Statement {
Create Array
}
Else {
Other Stuff
}
.. Later ..
Array Access Attempt

That last part will be unable to locate your array, because you created it in a block with a different scope. Code can look up levels in scope (hence global variables) but cannot look down into it. The 'If Statement' block would conceal the array creation, and possibly even delete it at the end of its scope. Same thing if you created it in one function and try to access it in another - without a global scope in that case, your functions won't see it.

I don't know if you've had any programming experience before (if you have, you probably already knew that) but I thought I'd try to be helpful.

Well, that kinda went over my head, DF and I still don't know how to apply it to the code. Here is the code I am using - it's long as it generates for the three types of elves in Anar (Wood Elves, 'High' Elves of Asborea, and the Sea or Dark Elves in Dhamia). I've even tried starting with a clean slate and putting piecies in one at a time. I got about six to show up before it started to complain it couldn't find anything. I managed to get Date, Age, Hair and Eye color one (Type and gender are not arrays...) before I can't put any of the others in there without it complaining. I see nothing wrong with the code. I use the same one for each array.

Well, on first glance you've got a space between the " and OCCU on some of them, which will screw it up, (A and S).

Fixed that now it's complaing about the sibs...I'm going to do some cutting on this script. Maybe I'll find the error by taking certian parts out and such...starting with SIBS...*smacks it* Normally I would just scratch the idea but I want to use these to make character stats for some of the dragons I have laying around...the Selkari (shapeshifters) one will be a pain as I have about 8-10 different types of Selkari...:P Which means I best get this one working before I start on that! Heh!

Mmm, by your code it's not a scoping error, since you're working entirely in one block. However, I'm not as familiar with JavaScript so it'd take me awhile to muddle through alot of that. Hmm.

So when I have an array that links to anouther array, I should change the aVocab[intCat][1][intIncr++]= to aVocab[intCat][2][intIncr++]= and so forth depeinding on how many arrays brance out? I remember a code I did that was something like that but not sure what is was from...

Nope, just make sure to name them properly and don't miss <> or "" anywhere. I have more complicated ones than this by far, and it's usually just a missing quotation or a space somewhere or misspelling.
