Getting sick of Sheezy/art sties?

Post by Sargon »

i know some of you other hommies ahve shezy accounts as well. It takes what? twenty minutes to load up and then page-errors. Ye gods! The customization is really cool and all, but now that you scan skin deviantart and the art theft issue was semi-resolved...

Yeah. I mean the art theft issue is never going to be resolved all the way, there's always those idiots who do what they think they can get away with. *bolton-sized sigh*

So yes, guys, what other art sites do you belong to? And for that matter, do you know of?

I'm on:
Vcl: sargon
Deviantart: sargon-the-dark
sheezy: sargon
Shadowness: Sargon
I was on Fur affinity before it crashed as Sargon
And i was on Yerf as well as Sargon.

I don't really know of any others, and sometimes i feel like i spread myself thin but hey, it's a good way to prove that it's all your art. And i like the aspect of having different people to talk too and comment on once and a while, where some of the bigshots aren't there yet. :D

I have DA and VCL.

http://lakotasilver.deviantart.com/
http://us.vclart.net/vcl/Artists/Crystal-Carlson/

I HATE HATE HATE Sheezy. Channel Cat, the little prepubescent gink who runs/created it, lives REALLY near me and I think he is an irresponsible, hypocritical jerk. Yes, I feel really strongly about this XD

Sargon, I know of one other pretty good art site, though it's kind of for furry stuff only, like Yerf.

http://www.artvark.us

They only open applications every month or two, and I REALLY want to get in :/

You were on Yerf? Impressive. One of my good friends who is AMAZING at furry art never got accepted there. You must be really good!

I had a SA gallery that I joined because I was fed up with DA's long load times -- and now SA takes longer to load than DA :x Stupid sheezyart.

You know channelcat Lakota? o.O *writes her list of complaints and ships it to you to give to him* *has everyone she knows who doesn't like sheezy sign it too*

Artvark. hm, sounds really fun and elusive :D yay furry stuff, most of the sites i'm on are for furry artists (though i don't consider ymself one..), though i must say that the vcl is quite adult themed. Along with most of the fur-er sites i've seen. *blink*

and oh shit, i forgot i had a side7 account: sargon

XD I think that, right now, there's an explosion of new galleries because people are getting fed up. I know that tixen ( http://www.tixen.net/gallery/ ) is in the works (It's another furry site--I have a feeling it's going to go down the road of VCL and get pretty ewwy, pretty soon... but we'll see about that!)

Some aquaintances of mine are starting another furry-type gallery called Yaywhee--a FurryAffinity-style, which, again, means it won't be so PG, most likely. A few people on my LJ friends list have been asking about what we'd like to see in public galleries, which means (I assume) that there are other places that are starting up that I haven't heard of, yet. x_O' There's so many, nowadays, that it's getting difficult to remember! I don't check many of them, and by this point, I'm thinking of just setting up my own personal webspace... I mean, I'm a comment whore and /love/ to get positive feedback, but at the same time, having my own space might help me 'get over' that. XD *needs to go to comment-addiction rehab!*

Anyways, I post most of my art on my livejournal. I don't have to worry about favoriting or other crap so... yeah. *is random!*

No dude, Dray livejournals and journals rock. i just don't have the paitence to sit there and acutally use one. the only thing i update like, reguarly, is devianrt. Just because it's the best of all worlds combined. journals, prints and comment-systems. you know xx; plus it's the only place i have loyal art-watchers.

And another thing about livejournal is the serious art-theif issue. Its like everywhere but i'm iffy about journal sites. :3 Only becuase emo kids get them and whine everyday about how they wore their monday underpants on thursday and some guy in the locker room made fun of them. Really, we don't care. Haha. Yeah, and i'm lazy. And yeah, i wish i ahd good stuff to say when i wrote in one other than
"i had lunch. i was good."
"I saw some buildings. And a rock."
"My pigdied."
xD. you know. i sound like a -moron- xD

*goes to see if there's a new LMD post in dray's LJ*

XD!! *laughs!* You don't /friend/ those people, silly! Just the people you feel like actually reading about! X333 (and then you can skim, because if you're like me, you're too fecking lazy to read most life-stories. ^^;;;)

O_o I didn't realize that art theft was more of an issue on journals and such... >D See, you can keep your entries friends-locked so that only the people you trust can see them, which is a bonus.

...but I admit that I like having a tiny hoarde of DA-followers. XD I think I only have one or two people who favorite every. god. damned. thing... which just confuses me, but there's some folks who're nice enough to comment on everything, which gives me such warm fuzzies. *tries to do that, too, so she can return the favor* It's so much easier for people to ignore you, though... you don't post frequently enough and they just stop watching. XD

Kind of OT, but I have a couple people who never comment, just favorite everything o_o It's kind of weird..

And then the other day I had someone comment and favorite ever single art piece in my gallery. That, while nice, was also kind of scary.. >_>

*cackles!* XDDD I'm wondering what kind of compliment it is when you think they're actually faving stuff because they think it's nice... and then you find out that they've gone and done the same thing to fifty other people! O_o''' It really does make me wonder... >.O

Hee! Sky-song-stalker! XD At least you (hopefully!) don't have to deal with actual art-stalkers. O_o *watching ~jennadelle accumulate crazies* (Makes me glad to be obscure. XD)

Crashed? As in, gone for good? Meh, I stopped using it anyway. It wouldn't let me upload a bloody thing.

Question about Deviantart...
Does anybody else have a problem with the terms of use agreement? If not, why not?
I'm trying to decide about whether or not I feel secure enough to post anything myself but the ToS agreement has me a bit nervy about doing it now.
I'm GeminiStorkat on DA.
Let me know what your thoughts are on this... I don't know how the artists on there feel about DA's stand of neutrality when it comes to people taking their work. And I wanted to find out. :?

Oh and would you recommend VCL as an alternative to DA? As I mentioned a bit of my work isn't 'pg' enough to be on DA even if I did quite know if I should trust them or not.
And how much trouble is it to apply/become a member?
Eerm, maybe an example of my work would help?
http://gemini.crystalrealms.org/mm/gall ... ktwins.png
Is currently the raciest picture I have (well that and her sister) but some of my other work (as-yet-scanned) is more so at the moment.
Any comments as to whether my work would be too mature? Please note I was taught to draw from scratch. Meaning I was trained in the very traditional style of drawing sketches. I draw the body first Then the clothes and other things. :?

XDDDD Oh hun, as compared to VCL, that is /not/ anything to worry about, trust me. The only thing that I think VCL cracks down on (and I mean the ONLY thing) is grey/pebbly backgrounds. If you're hoping to get in and use that as an example sketch, you'll want to adjust the levels/contrast to get that background as white as you can... otherwise they're hardasses about it. 9_9'

DeviantArt... is stupid, I guess. >.< I'm not sure why I still post there, considering how awful it is... I think it's just having the security-net of commenters that I've built up, that I don't want to let go of! *commentwhore* I usually just keep most of my art in storage, and leave a few out to showcase. *nods* Seems to work alright.

*tilts head* What would you recommend for an example sketch then? I have a lot of other sketches as well and am always doodling more. So if you could give me an idea of what would be the most acceptable to VCL and other places you might know of, I'd be interested to have a direction for said doodles to go.
I'm trying to be less skittish and broaden my field of being known. Make some connections other than the few tightly guarded ones I have now. Friends are wonderful things to have but I don't make them easily and am looking for ways to improve that. It seemed to me art and my tendency to doodle might be a good avenue to start with.
