It was happening before I sent him in as an elf so don't blame it on the curse, Shard.

*murrs* :3 Thanks guys. This year has just been majorly sucking for me. I'll try not to complain about it anymore. At least not here.

No, no, complain away. I'm sorry that it wasn't working out.

>_< This year seems to be sucking for just about everyone. Tsunami, hurricanes, floods, friends being evicted with nowhere to go, relationship suckage.... Dur. *hugs again* Fight back! With Happy! *cheesy Japanese-style squee-dance, fully accompanied by sparkling backgrounds, etc.*
But yeah... feel free to complain, Mystic. You know we're around for that kind of thing, should you need some folks to lean on!
...x_O And I need breakfast-lunch. Brain doesn't work right when there's no food around to eat.

*snickers* Okay, that made me giggle. :P I pictured your avatar-person-thingy doing the whole anime dance. Considering I've been obsessively revamping my Triad! pics, anime's been filling my brain a lot these days. Still need to finish that... not suck at faces. Trent is MALE! Dammit! MALE!

I've got your forms, (both of you I think, I will have to check on yours Asha, but i believe so) but I've been working on the backlog of others. I'll get to yours today at work, since I seem to do them best while supposed to be doing other things... heh. Was yours Tinsy? (I don't recognize the email it came from, mor1m0t0?)
I've got:
Tetrika, Dark, Agate and a couple others done without pictures... I can't wait until you guys see Tetrika's. heh.
So yeah I'll work on the ones you need for real people first now.

*bouncebouncebouncebouncebounce* Tetrika's coming! Yay!
<Kinr> I will kill you.
<Kinr> I will kill you.

lol -well Kinr will also be on the way but I've actually done Tetrika's cis (as above, without an image - and believe me the image is *teh* important).
I'm still trying to figure out how to arrange the 'other' folks. Those who won't - clearly - make it into the Dragonclan holt itself. Some may, like Dark, be out on the outskirts and just interact with a couple now and then or cause trouble but not be an actual *threat*. I suspect that Agate, KTFE and a couple others will apply in that category. The knux-elf and krystin-elf will be on their own as 'true antagonists' so I'd be willing to take applications for that group - they would not necessarily be *led* by the knux-elf. As I see it, so far Tetrika is ... truly evil, quite dangerous, Fang-level bizarre/weird. Not necessarily someone you'd want leading anyone but not liking to be ordered around either. Knux-elf I see still as a kind of self-important yet bumbling ball of point-eared anger.
Not good leadership material either, but *wants* to be.
These groups can snipe at each other safely, I think, without involving the Holt itself. But I'm still trying to figure out how to get them to be able to interact *at all* properly for story purposes. They will largely be coming together, semi-organized at least upon arrival. But with their powers and personalities coming out after a time, maybe they'll spliter on the way. That sounds about as close as I'm gonna get...

I've commemorated others in my life with this sort of effort. I understand that he's still on your good side - somehow - but he's not on mine. I have no intention of writing him in spite like many fanficcers do: he's still a person in my mind, and not a thing to be despised or mistreated in writing all sorts of abusive or deadly crap. However, he *has* quite thoroughly made a bad impression on me and a lot of others. He's an outsider yes, but he's made a ripple big enough to have a permanent spot in my memory. I promise that I won't abuse the privelege of having him in my world - remember, if I didn't care at all about the situation, I would not *allow* him into my universe *at all*. To me, he kind of represents a moral lesson to be reminded of now and again...
I don't really know what to say other than the process is in progress. Can be halted and will be if you're really up in arms about it, but in my mind he's already present and accounted for. If it bothers you that much, I respect you enough to stop, but I do hope that in the effort to have some interesting conflict and writing subject matter, that you will let me finish his character and insert him.

Solution:
I still want to put him in, as a nearby-type. Less of a direct influence, but not a main "bad guy".
And put in Alec McCaffrey instead.
...... o.o

I'm not going to make a huge deal over it if you insert him, but it seems to me that unless Knux shows up to either play his character or give us permission to, none of us has the right to play him in any manner. Whether you intend to handle his character benevolently or not, it just doesn't sit well with me for you to take over his character just because you want him to be the conflict the Holt needs. It sounds like we've got a lot more interesting, evil conflict coming in the form of many other characters, why bother with Knux? I know you permanently don't like him and while he can be annoying and pushy and inconsiderate he's just a kid who's a little misguided in my mind...maybe that's the teacher in me not wanting to give up on a 'bad egg' but I still don't want to see him in the Holt without his consent, which I doubt we'd get.
That said, if you want to create a fictitious elf that /acts/ like Knux but has no resemblence to him otherwise and just /not tell me/ that's who you're basing him on, I won't say a word...but be warned that if you played Knux true to character, Bringer might be inclined to stand up for him and use her knowledge transfer to try to change people's minds about him...I'm devious like that...
-Sidenote- How cool would it be to actually be able to do that? It would solve so many of my problems at work if I could just insert my knowledge into my coworkers brains so they'd understand how I think... Then again, some of them might run screaming for the hills if they understood just exactly how weird I am...heh... -endSidenote-

lol - good points.
I will probably still create him for *my* version of the world and there he'd sit.
I think I will bring Mccaffrey in though heh. Just cause he pissed EVERYONE off.
And yes, as to your side point? That's precisely why I thought you'd like it. It's an 'educator' power, after all...

I'm for basing it on him, but not saying "This is Knux, this is Knux under a rock with elf ears". :: snerk :: Hell, base one on Alec McCaffrey too! And I mean base in a looser sense than what we give you through the form - perhaps just take the traits that irk you and make that be an elf - like a frozen period of a personality you do not like. I'd reference Black Tapestries now, but I am not so sure that you read it, so shan't. Heh.
Knux is still friendly (I agree misguided, and probably craves far too much attention) to me, and as with Xalia, I won't really do anything (except probably Redbarb would be tempted to start addressing "ill tensions" around the Holt through distraction and other means) but I'm more for, "Well, he acted like an inconsiderate punk, so I'll take that timereference action and make it into an elf" more than taking his character and putting that in an elf body.

Educating is one thing. Dealing with the board of educators is another. :P My mom's a social worker and often had to deal with them. She griped about it almost constantly.
And thank you, Shard, for being respectful. I don't talk to Knux anymore, but he wasn't a bad guy when he wasn't trying to... control... everything.

Thanks.
Certainly, the 'alec-elf' will be merely my impression from a few years back, and forced through an internet portal lol! Heck, he might not even take a real shape, just a screaming banshee of anger and ignorance. heh.
And yeah, the problem with education isn't the teachers or the kids... It's the admin.
My friend is a teacher and has had so much trouble getting to teach her class - she has to do so much junk to please the in-betweeners who insist that teaching a certain way is more important than getting the kids to learn... ugh.
She and I were both so amazed at book 5 of the Harry Potter series for that reason. Obviously, since Rowling is a teacher herself, that's where she knows how bad it can be. But the whole situation in that book was *exactly* as outrageous as real life here in San Diego's system...

It's not just San Diego, Shard...it's California...I did my training in Ohio and loved teaching, admin actually supported the teachers in the schools I student taught in...it was every teacher's dream job...but stupid me couldn't handle the ice and the snow so I came back to sunny depressingly stifled So Cal!
Teachers do the best they can to teach the kids, and the poor kids just try to learn through all the politics, funding problems, and beaurocratic hogwash that comes down the line to hinder them...it sucks and that's why I'm getting out, I can't do anyone any good as things are now.

Yes, it was. That's my freakishly odd email address. Yeah I checked in here for the memberlist email and it matched. I started it, and you've even got a name... but I'm not saying until I'm done with yours and the others already mentioned.

My other friend, a coworker until he was given money to go back to college and get a teaching credential (nice friends.), also teaches here in san diego.
Only, he teaches at a nice, white, upper-middle-class school in a rich neighborhood (well, 'rich' compared to). Becky my girlfriend is a teacher in the south bay area (I think, somewhere really far from 'the nice neighborhoods') and has to deal not only with there being no money coming from the neighborhood, but with kids who are treated like dirt by the teachers *for being brown skinned*... it's crap. PLUS, the thing that pissed me off SO much. My coworker-turned-teacher friend WON AN AWARD for his class being "the dream class" of some local/statewide shit. His class got 1000$ for stuff.
THEY DIDN'T NEED THAT money. I am SO angry. It really pisses me off that people like Bex and you and so many others have to deal with buying pencils for their classroom because the SCHOOL BOARD can't afford it, yet the school board must hire 16 assistants to 'evaluate teacher performance in accordance with the new process we want you to teach'... argh.
argh.
And apparently, it's not just here or ohio or wherever, it's everywhere. EVERY where. What are we THINKING? What happened? I mean, when I went to school it was better, but I guess that was before the era of ultra-sensitive PC crap. I remember that when you couldn't read, you were kept back until you COULD. And now? What was it, like 24% of adults ages 25-35 didn't even graduate highschool? In america, what is that? What IS that? We don't have trade schools - that group of non-graduates at least should be taught a trade...
Oooh I'm so ranting. Sorry. :p
