Congradulations Xalia, she's a lovely looking mare. And are those Sabino markings I see (legs and bell spots look sabino-ish)? Pretty
(I am currently into Sabino's, they're pretty).
Dray, I imagine the horse she's buying at the moment will just be for her to train up. The other horses she trains for other people will be where she makes her money - she rides other peoples horses and teaches them stuff the owners can't/don't have time too. Right Xalia?
Congrads again, a horse will eventually be on my wishlist but it's going to take a few hundred years - lol.
EDIT: and having looked at the site, and from their her daddy, he's a Sabino boy so thats where she'll have got it from!

I make money off her by training her well. She'll be my "look what I can do" horse. It always looks really good for a trainer to have a horse they've trained up from a young age so they can say to prospective clients "I trained this horse and look how good he/she is." That's how I can make money off her. Eventually, if she's really, really good I may be able to use her for some advanced lessons, but right now she's too young. On top of that, if she turns out as good as I think she will, there's the possibility of prize money from her if I can afford to show her and we do well. In the meantime she will be a financial drain, but a worthwhile one if she turns out to be as good as I think/hope she is!
So yeah, where I make my money is by showing her off and gaining clientelle based on how well I train her. Like Kiara says I make my money by training horses to do things that their owners can't or don't have the time to do and from teaching the owners and other young people (most of the students are kids) how to ride well. I always include free lessons with any training I do because it does me no good to train the horse if the rider's just going to screw them up! *L*
And yes, her daddy produces a lot of sabinos but she's not listed as sabino so I'm not sure...I think most sabinos have more sporadic white than she does, but that's definitely where she got it!

So, we had the pre-purchase vet exam tonight...and Alli did fabulously! She doesn't have /any/ issues...just a slight dish to one foot which she'll likely grow out of or can be corrected with better shoeing...
She was being silly because she'd been at the vet all day so the vet's comments were: "Good movement, high animation, very energetic."
And that she was! But she'll be calm and fun when I'm working her regularly...wow...I can't wait!
I'm having her delivered /next/ Saturday...on the 29th...nine days to wait! *cries* But I can't get the money until next week and Saturday was the earliest her seller could deliver her. *resists urge to bounce in excitement and impatience*

I'm sure you're all getting a little tired of hearing me go on and on about my new horse, but she's here now and officially mine!
She arrived on Saturday and I gave her the day to get settled in before taking her out to ride her yesterday...she's /so/ awesome to ride, even moreso than when I tried her out! I'm so in love with my new baby I hardly know what to do with myself!
Anyways, my mom came out and took pictures on Saturday when she was still getting adjusted to the arena I'm riding her in until she's better balanced so if you want to see they're here: http://www.dragonbackdesign.com/alli.html
And yes, that's me looking very frumpy because it was a damp, cold morning and my hair curls when it's damp...but yeah...look at the horse, not the frumpy-looking trainer drooling over her...

She really is gorgeous!
She's got the most intelligent look on her, that I've seen on a horse, really. So alert and attentive. I love the way her chin has white on it, making her head look more ... i dunno - draconic?
From the side at least lol.
