what I do is, if I'm using photoshop, I draw the outline with the paintbrush tool, not the pencil, because it makes for smoother lines. Then, once it's all done, I go to image -> mode -> indexed, and voila, no more anti-aliasing. Then I switch back to rbg for the coloring. Makes the lines look much nicer that way :)

Hey, cool! XD I didn't know that you could do that... and it's so much faster then my way!

When I do line-art on the computer, I use the magic wand to select the outer edge, then go Select->Modify->Expand 2. That moves the selection into the lines by about two pixels. If you hit 'delete' it gets rid of most of the fuzz, and then, to get a thicker outline, you go (remember to keep the same selection goin'!) Select->Modify->Contract 2. That moves the selection back by 2 pixels, so you have this empty space next to your outline.
After that, you go Select->Inverse (or apple-I/ctrl-I, if you're a fan of using keyboards to do things), then use the fill bucket to get a nice thick outline. o_o' But that takes a bit of getting used to! XD It leaves the inside of your paintbrush-style lines all smooth and stuff, but gives you that crisper outline that doesn't leave a halo.
(All of that ganked ages ago from Phe, but it works for me!)

aaaanyways, Kitsuneko, do you mind if I take a stab at your Sublime Daisy/Shirrith Rona’de pair? I already did a sketch, and >.>" managed to give them gigantic wings, just trying to do something new--anyways, if it's alright, I'll ink 'em up and colour a few!

>;P Sil, you thought Esha' grandbabies--how 'bout another generation? *grin*

Also, Rachael, those guys are awesome! :D They gloooow (sort of!) I love 'em! ^_^ Any you'd prefer to keep, or can I gank them all? X333
Love the expression on the second template. :3 So serene! Can't wait to see the babies coloured! :D
(and... lastly... >.> You know that Boa/Corogess pairing? For the life of me I can not find where I saved them... could you PM them to me again? ;.; So sorry to bug you, but I have no idea where they went!)

That's a nice method for sharpening up images... I'm gonna have to try that. My current methods require a fair bit of pixel by pixel cleaning afterwards, which irritates me...

Only using Paintshop Pro 7 and Photoshop Pro 7, though... so I'll have to see if I can still use a similar technique...

Heh, first off, gank 'em all. XD I think I fell for the second template, so can't look elsewhere. ^__^; (I also feel frustrated since I had that template ready for coloring (shading and everything) then my computer froze. Gah! Technology!)

Heh! I'll dig them up on my Harddrive. Was it alright with you if I kept one of them for myself? :mrgreen: There were four ... NO, five of them I believe. ^__^;

I don't scan inks because I hate inking. I am an inkophobe. I always do it wrong, and then mess the whole thing up. Plus I find it impossible to find pens that aren't either really thick or so thin that I might as well not have inked at all because it will still look all choppy and blah when I scan it. And egads, the cleaning up I have o do :shock: No, it's much less work, for me, to just trace over the scanned pencil image with the mouse. That way I can clean up any residual ickyness as I go, and I can work with any image I want (despite if it's on lined paper with a big coffee stain in the middle, or what). No, inking is most certainly not for me. I'd lurve a tablet, though...

Tablet = My heaven. Hence I won't be coloring the second set of behbies until I get home later this next week. =)

Dray, I think Boa/Coro's kids are on my thumb drive in Santa Barbara, which is currently 300+ miles south of me. ^__^; I'll get 'em to you when I am around there, at the same time my tablet returns.

I find a .7 gel pen is about right for my inking needs... I make mistakes all the time, which is probably why I have to do so much pixel work...

I used to use a .5 gel pen, though they do tend to smudge a bit much. Right now I'm inking with a uniball Vision micro. nothing special, my work has em. :)

I don't much like using ball pens... I have a thing with my wrist that affects how I use a pen, and ball pens end up looking awful... Gel pens do smudge a lot, but if I work far left to far right, and then leave it five minutes before I rub out the pencil lines, it's not too bad. Some minor smudges that my scanner doesn't even pick up (good for the smudges, but kinda bad when you consider what else the thing could be missing...).

Sometimes I'm tempted to get a nice fountain/cartridge pen. My handwriting at least looks nice with those, so perhaps my inking would too...

I use fine-line Sharpies to ink. My friend JuJu told me about them, and I've used them ever since :3 they're awesome, and make crisp, fast-drying lines, and they're ALSO great for filling in large areas of black and not making that horrible I-can-see-exactly-each-stroke-of-the-pen look.

And Shiolar, if you're going to look into cartridge pens, I muchly recommend Koh-i-noor. They've got a hugulous range of tip sizes, and they're kind of a bother to refill and keep clean, but they're REALLY nice pens and they last forever. :}

Alright, I know I said "I'll probably never stick my nose in the Database as an artist"... but I gotta fall in one of those instances that "probably never" leaves uncovered, in light of one of the new additions, because I love the insanity of multiple limbs.

Dray? Shiolar? Letting you know I'm veeeeery interested in breeding Luera and Sera'Jocosa. >3 Watch for that, once I've caught up with my hatchings and whatnot... buaha.

YA RLY!

And Shard, zomg. XD You need to add her to the Database! Then I might be tempted into a second "probably never". XD (Well hey, gotta have something to fill the space between clutches...)

Oh, man, imagine them going through adolescence with that many legs. They'd never be able to walk straight. And then when some of them are an inch shorter that the rest- they would so be all elbows and knees for years.
