ssd died can't get on discord...

yo so I am coming to you via Windows 7 since the SSD I have 10 on upchucked this morning on boot and apparently fixing that means the computer can't even detect that drive. I'd thought this was inevitable but not for this specific reason, since there's been plenty of red LEDs on my mobo and it's a minimum 13-year old mobo. 2 year old SSD.

Discord can't be launched on 7 at this point I guess, it failed to update and won't even bother trying on second or third clicks. :/

So until I know what the fuck is happening with my computer I'm gonna not be able to be on discord as I don't have it on my phone and can't type on my phone anyway. I might try but also... don't remember my login lol.

Either way I am an angry little wyrm.

My data drives are okay but since everything and its brother wants to install shit on my ssd (which I wanted ONLY to be windows 10 related...) I don't even know what programs I have that rely on it for local/appdata stuff is on it.

A bit of an update:
I will be getting new parts and assembling an entirely new computer but that won't be until the 5th of january at the earliest.

I am losing my fuckin mind... T_T

Think the parts can't get here soon enough because last night I clicked off of Flashpoint and the entire desktop worth of programs and icons vanished. had to restart to get them back enough to turn the computer off. So yeah my workhorse of a computer is finally lugging itself over the finish line but it does mean I have zero connectivity to some things and very limited resources for others.

Like? You wonder? Oh, because windows 7 is not supported by Chrome, I can't update the browser to the current version as it won't run correctly. Meaning I can't just turn on a disney plus movie and enjoy that in my room to kill the time. I also can't get into my droppin-the-fork email right now because fucking godaddy + microsoft office 365 'don't recognize this device', you know the device I'd been using since 2015 to access it only with a faintly different hardware configuration in the way? Won't send me an email to my original yahoo email where it is SUPPOSED to, no, because my friend owns the account it's put on godaddy, so if I want to 'confirm it's you', I have to a) be able to access that account on another device (which I cannot, obviously, since there IS no other device that has ever accessed it and it would hit a loop) or send a text to one of two gmails that *are not mine*, starting with a letter indicating that they're Mike's main emails which he has not used formally for more than a decade. I've tried getting him to just let me use the admin level account with a password, so I can transfer ownership and just dump that email onto my Gmail or kshau protectorate, I don't need any access to godaddy, I've completely restructured my website already. But that fuck is so distracted adhd boy (no lie and no apology he is the most unreliable human being I still like...) it's been 6 months since he TOLD ME on a text he was going to move the thing. Has never happened.

I can't get my phone to get discord but that's mainly because I cannot remember what my login password to Apple is. Thankfully I did at least move it from the DTF email to my current, but. I don't remember it and if I do I will put discord on the phone, but I've got to find my windows 10 disk and prep for actually putting effort into making my new compy when it arrives.

Me and my friend barb are watching it and she's not a gamer to say the least, so I get to scream at the screen and pause it and go on deep dives into "THIS GUY WAS WHO? OMG!?"

Crap and I can't seem to save the images easily because whatever google docs does combined with w7/my browser it doesn't just save as anywhere but 'keep' and I don't use google doc folders much / at all. oi. not that I don't still have a couple to post when I'm ready...

Got most of the components today. Huge case, new mobo, new chip, new 1tb SSD that I HOPE will remain as free from 'data' files as possible, new cooler for the chip, ram. Video card on the way.

it's been a while since I've had to figure out what goes where. by golly the case is quite large so I don't know where it'll actually GO. Also I hope my 735w power supply isn't also going to just fail, but at least it does work for the moment, just that the new components are way beefier than it's been running.

So tomorrow I'll probably be completely offline and building the thing. I am excite but also afeard

In other other news my cat smells like that skunk from 2 weeks ago and I don't know whether it's my nose or her wandering through the grass because it's not consistently there. It is entirely possible that it's just my growing-older nose detecting wrong things, it's happened before pre-covid era but I'd have preferred that scent loss since it actually made skunk smell like "warmed hand lotion" rather than "the part that makes you gag".

You got this! I honestly love building new computers. It's frightening and exciting. All the pieces fit so exactly that I don't really fear putting something in the wrong spot, but what if I do?! And what if something fails? I once had a tower I had to operate with the side off until I could finagle the cords into a better arrangement. Anytime I tried to run it otherwise, it would shut off as soon as I tried to put the side back on.

Also, apparently that skunk smell will keep coming back every time she gets wet due to the oils reactivating. It's bloody hard to get rid of.

Yeah I had given BRUH a bath and thought it was fine but she does go out and sleep in the grass and/or on the chair I've had to put outside. But it doesn't smell only the grass does, and I'm pretty sure it's just her walking through the dew because it's never her back or anything else, just the legs and belly.

It's been a reasonable number of years since I've done an actual whole rebuild or build on a computer, I do know how to do it, it's just this one's considerably larger than the last one. Big case with three fans on the front, but also the cpu cooler will be 3 more fans out the top, and the 5060 i don't even know how big that will be. I'm also hoping that none of the stuff he's ordered for later in the month comes in with rocks instead of a card since apparently that's a thing happening now... Since we're not using best buy nor fedex that shouldn't be an issue.

I do hope that I don't have to put the usb plugs together. I genuinely don't understand why the hell they stopped giving the mobo connectors just. A connector. I can't see that small shit lol.
