Er. Wow, okay, I just noticed the "Size" listing.. is that length or height?

I use it as length, generally. (and yeah they're like 3 x bigger than most of mine in feet, I now just chalk that up to 'they're honking big dragons').

I will state, right now, that using those 32m of Rynyth as length... he's longer by about 2m than the biggest Myrsilk possible. If that's height... he's three times taller than the biggest Myrsilk possible.

To be honest, I always just handwave it. Pernese dragons are always the same comparative size, no matter where they come from and how they're measured, because...magic. Lol.

Rhiannon used the official guide for the dragon sizes, so that definitely refers to length.

<.< Definitely handwaving. Because yeah. Even using those numbers as length (and Jkat's stated 1:4 height:length ratio), that quite comfortably stands taller at the shoulder than the smallest Myrsilk stands even counting their heads held fully upright. Meters are BIG.

(Also, there's a part of me that never really liked how large the Pernese supposedly were in the end. They're just these incomprehensibly huge beasts that are supposedly cared for by a single person. It just.. doesn't really make sense. Shush about stones and glass houses, the Myrsilk as a whole think humans are cute, like one would a mouse, and bonding is more of a partnership than the suicide-pact that Pernese go for.)

I don't really pay much attention to the sizes except to know if it's a big brown or a smaller brown, etc. I just compare them to other colors from the same place like this Aneris brown versus that Aneris brown or this Sedona bronze versus that Sedona bronze. Yeah, the fact that the Pernese dragons are so enormous really doesn't make sense, and despite knowing the supposed size, I never actually imagine them as large as airplanes. My brain shrinks them down to a more relatively normal comparative size.

I actually never realized how big they were until I was somewhere in my late teens, after I'd been reading the books for years and years. I actually think I first heard it from the Nexus -- I do have the guidebook, but I think my brain replaced meters with feet because it expected to see feet listed and so.. it was =P I do recall playing the DRoP video game, but I don't know how that dragon fits in with the 'standard sizes' thing... also, I only really recall the (pretty neat, actually) motion of standing on the dragon's paw and being lifted up to its neck that way. Everything else beyond stabbing tunnel snakes with a pocket knife is pretty vague in my mind at this point.

There's a reason I made that (....and never hatched that) 'group' clutch. I have the images inked, I should eventually launch that again. Because Pernese dragons deserve a lot more energy and attention paid to them, if nothing else because of their sheer size.

Huh, I remember that clutch and being interested in doing it. Yknow, if there starts being clutches with hatching stories again, I think I'll start writing real stories again. Reading Rhiannon's hatching and looking through for mine, even if they were just quickie stat pages reminded me why I started sending candis to places.

For real. Writing directed and targeted characters has always been a lot of fun for me. When I write hatchings, I really love trying to put in personal touches to the characters - their flitter behavior, their clothing or style, etc - that makes them feel 'at home'.

Thanks, Starfyre. Knowing that the hatching is appreciated really makes my day. It took me a lot to get it done, and normally, I'd prefer to put more details into it. I just had a difficult time pairing them up, and so subsequently the writing took longer.

Also, the chasers are much appreciated. Today is update Aneris day for me. So Sands, Flights, Records... all will be updated.

I have a question for you. I just remembered that DNS left all her dragons to me when she moved on from the Nexus, since I was already hosting it all. Cycling through some of her pages, there are some more Pernese that I could toss at you as chasers - do you mind if I do? It's a bit of a shame to leave such a trove fallow when she gave me permission to use them.

(I'm serious, wow, what a trove! There are a bunch of Lantessama Balle Masque dragons, Danachians from 1 to 3 pairs of wings, and a ton of really odd mutts, like those.. spider-dragon-mutt-things that Phe did at some point. Also a Scatternaki mutt. And I haven't even gotten through the whole collection. Also, Shard.
