Progress, hoorah! So far so good! I have a couple of things to mention that I noticed:
-Your navigation bar should be one to three pixels taller, as the 'y' and 'g' in weyrbowl and fighting wings links are cut off when hovered over.
-Since the rest of your layout uses gradients, I think that making your CSS dropshadow blurred would fit better than the sharp outline. I've found one tutorial on how to do it amongst the other tips in
this link, and their 'Example B' box is mostly what I mean, save the orientation of the shadow is backwards. X3
-"K'man and J'ren are both Flightleaders - K'man's flight will fly with Forth." Should 'Forth' be 'Fort'? (I know, not a layout nitpick, but I see spelling errors on your website all the time and even though the layout looks really nice, a single typo is all it takes to throw someone for a loop and to start looking for other errors. It's a really good idea to triple-check the writing or ask someone else to read through and report spelling errors so that your site looks top notch!)
-Similarly, I think that you should indicate your switch from in character writing about the wings to your out of character talk about not wanting to between other people's dragons with some kind of visual cue: a smaller font, a divider, a div box of a different colour or with a border around it -- just give the reader a moment to adjust to the fact that 'I' and 'I'm' is suddenly getting thrown into the mix.
-Overall, the fighting wings page has a lot of info on it right away, and I'm not sure what I should be looking at first. In the end, I glanced at both sides, thought, 'huh, neat,' and mostly ignored them for the main article. If there's anything you want us to know
first, using some tricks of hierarchy would better accomplish that goal: the 'fighting wings' header could be even a little bigger, as I find it's not quite big enough to immediately separate it from the headers on either side bar.
-The census information on the right hand side is really interesting, but there is something about it being bumped up there with the fighting wings information that this page is supposed to be mainly about that is odd to me. This isn't something that has to be implemented or anything, but it would be interesting if that right hand bar served as a small randomized box of information pertinent to that particular page: the population information could be moved to the Weyrbowl, since it seems to me to be general information about the Weyr as a whole. In its place, a header like 'random fighting wing facts' could show various information in bite-sized chunks like one or two sentences: when which wings were formed, who is the most experienced Wing Leader, who flew the longest flight, which wing has had the least injuries, which wing supports what colours, etc. Each time a person refreshed the page, another little bit of information would pop up. Not vital to the understanding of Falas Weyr, but another layer of interaction and understanding. :3
-For the Rising Mist wing's page, I like it so far! The only thing that could use nitpicking is the fact that the dragon info is all right-aligned, so I think that having the header, 'DRAGON', should be right-aligned as well just to ensure that it sticks over the heaviest looking part of that column. I'd love to see some random facts about each individual wing, though I can see how that would be a lot of work. X3
-Is K'man's page a finished example of the template that you're planning on using? If so, I'm wondering why the content box is so narrow. Was it supposed to fit into a smaller space? Right now it's opening in a new tab, so I'm getting half a box with a lot of content, and half a darker coloured, empty space. I find the center-aligned information to be offputting, especially in a left-aligned content box. I think it would look better if the information were left-aligned. I also think that since the dragon's images are not sunk into his information, K'man's image should not be right-aligned with the beginning of his stats table. Then again, it might look nicer if all of his information was left aligned because then it wouldn't seem like his image is nudging the information out of sync with the stuff lower down.
-The hatching sands page is looking great! I quickly understand what flight/candidate side info is getting at, and the filler image seems like a pretty good idea. It's an excellent hierarchical device. The only problem is, again, spelling errors that could be quickly fixed by editing the content!
Hope that all is helpful! The bulk of it looks really awesome. XD I want to snag some of your styles to integrate into my boring old site, man. This is coming along very nicely!
