Aneris: Liorath's Clutch!

Hi all,

So tonight, I finally broke down and began trying to re-establish my old Aneris pages. I like the fresh new look, but I'm worried about functionality. What's the easiest way these days to make sure the site is easily navigated? Also, I think I've decided for now that Aneris dragons will only have the hatchling and adult stages. However, I've discovered that for some reason when I originally backed-up the adult images they all shrank by 50%. Now if I try to resize them they become all pixelly. I've found at least one viable adult image of every color but gold. *sigh*

Anyway, I've decided to keep track of my progress here. There's so much to do that it's intimidating, but maybe by keeping a list I'll feel more accomplished and be encouraged to finish.

Any way to do a recolour, or are the golds a different size than the bronzes and the rest?

Just chip away at it one page at a time. I find that's the best way to get things accomplished. Sometimes holding off on uploading something until you have the desired amount of work done can be used as a reward system, too.

Yep. They're all different sizes. I could still try to enlarge the bronze slightly and then see if I could tweak it enough to pass for one of the golds.

EDIT: Whew... did a lot of searching tonight and I found one of the gold adults. We can have all of our colors at Aneris again.

Alright, I've been steadily moving pages. I've comissioned some new firelizard images. Over all, I'm making progress. Now if I can just figure out how I want to handle the functionality of the site, I'll be great. Also, I wonder if I should use a different background than the one I currently have up. Hmmmm.

I've decided on a completely new layout for Aneris that focuses on tables. I'm really liking how the new pages are looking. Once I have all of the transfers finished, Aneris should be ready to re-open. The transfers do not include riders, and I'm not entirely sure about re-establishing the Aneris Stable. Would there be any interest in the stables?

I'd probably be interested. It's been ages since there's been a Weyr that actually had that.

Ha ha, you should see if there are any adoption sites out there that still do horses. X3 Get them re-established with some stock that has previous lines!

Well, we never adopted runners out at Aneris. We merely ran races, and I think we only had the one maiden before everything went kaput. I can't even remember if I ever actually ran the race now. LOL. Almost all of the runners in the Aneris stable are from House Ganatek.

I've decided that I'm not going to wait to reopen Aneris until the riders are all repaged. I'm just going to wait until I have the new fire-lizard images. The new page set-ups are almost done. I just have to do my lower caverns page and the links page. I hope the new styling will go over well.

I still haven't heard back from the girl whom I commissioned for my firelizard images. I'm getting distressed. However, I've set the reopening date for May 1st. I'll post here with all the clutch info. It will be Gold Rikceth's clutch, and I decided not to open the flight just so I can get things done more quickly. I hope you all will like the new set-up and will forgive me any broken links. LOL

I had quite a few people with horses/runners. They all ended up with sport dragons (herd dragons? hehe!) and they manage herds in the area. I'd definitely be interested in the runners from Aneris! I'm also anticipating May 1 in general. I'll have to get some candidates out to you. :)

Well, I never did adopt out runners. I just ran races at Aneris, and with the trouble I'm having getting my fire-lizard images done, I don't think I'll be commissioning equine images anytime soon. Thank you guys for all of the support. It's nice to know that when Aneris does re-open that there will be interest.

:c It's sad to hear that you're having troubles with your commissions. For folks like me that adore drawing adoptables and are professional illustrators, it's always cringe-worthy to hear prospective customers throwing up their arms in dismay over bad cases.

Best of luck with your opening, in any case! I'm curious about the races, regardless of if there are images that go with the runners. X3 I haven't seen many side projects like that going on alongside adoptables that don't peter out shortly after initiation.

Well, I've given them until Monday to get back to me. They contracted with me on the 27th of March, and I haven't really heard much since.

That's a pain. Firelizards aren't exactly a monumental task -- very unprofessional. :/ At least firelizards aren't the main draw to a Weyr! ^^;

I'm glad for that. They never replied, so I'll have to seek someone else to draw them for me.

I found someone else to do the fire-lizards. YAY. They will be done in time for the re-opening. The artist obviously knows nothing about Pern, so it's a little tricky to explain some of the nuances. I sent them an example of the Aneris dragons, but I don't think they're referencing it well.

EDIT: Bah another bust. I've got to find someone to do these new images.

Wow, Shard! Thanks for the offer. I love your work, but it seems I finally had someone come through. Hopefully, you all like the new images.

Aneris reopens tomorrow. I'll post all the info here. Not all of the pages will be quite up and running yet, but we'll see how it goes

EDIT: New index is live. Please be sure to let me know what you think of the new set-up. I have my new fire-lizard template, but alas, it's not shaded. The girl who drew it for me used layer-style in PS to shade it.

EDIT2: Well, I shaded it myself. I'm not sure about how it looks though. What do you guys think?

So Aneris is officially reopened. There is a clutch of 12 on the sands and random decided on a queen egg. Some of the pages aren't entirely finished, so please be understanding.

I've always wanted Aneris dragons...but now I'm way to distracted with website makeovers to probably get anything done. heh *pokes her group from Dray's latest clutch* I need to make a database driven site or something...of course, I want to make a site like that. An RPG like site like DragonAdopters but more Pern based...or base it on Treval. Mwahahaa! *beats back muse* I would never be able to pull it off though...halfway through the designs I would start over. haha. Back-end coding is just not my thing cause I don't have the pacients for it.

I understand what you mean, Yakima. If you look at the new Aneris set up... FIFTY MILLION tables. It's a pain to get updated. I have a hard time finding where I am in the code, but man I love the functionality.

There is a clutch right now of 12. I have no candidates at the moment and it's been open for a little over a month. I'm sure you'll have time to get some in if you're interested.

I still haven't figured out what's up with the forms on my pages, but I've added my email address to send a form to. Or you can post candidates here.

Oh gosh, I just looked that page over, and I don't even know if ANY of the links to candidates still work. If you have yours at new locations please tell me. I really do want to run that, it would be such fun to have ultra-old blood out there.

All mine seem to be up at least though I do want to request no more bronzes. I didn't realize how many of them I had. heh. So Brelen and Gavdan can both be blue as I seem to have enough sharding browns, too! *sighs*
