Heh!

Well actually the only thing I would ask then, is for any subsequent nests - how long between the *hatching* of one to the next *hatching*. That would make it easier to do connected stories anyway and obviously I have connected stories. :)

It depends, really. It can be anywhere from several days to a few months depending on when the eggs are laid. The second clutch will probably begin seeking bonders a few months after the first clutch has been adopted out. Again, time is a funny thing in the Nexus universe and a few years in your character's homeworld could be equivalent to a few months. If Zeets and Chakoka were to stay at Starfall until the next clutch was accepting bonders, Chakoka would probably still be a hatchling (albeit a somewhat larger one - they grow fast to get to their adolescent stage!).

These are really awesome! I hadn't seen 'em with the internet connection issues of earlier. Great work! I'm a bit busy at the moment trying to reorganize for the fall, but once I get some time I would love to try for one!

Whenever you get time is fine. ^^ I've just started my first year of university so I'm very busy too, but these will remain open for whoever wants one. I've designed them so that giving them out takes minimal time on my part, so there will be no need for me to go on hiatus with the school year in full swing.

Hiya, fellow Nexiians.

This clutch is still open, just saying. XD Stats-pages are perfectly sufficient to grab one of these babies and stories aren't required; if you like, you can just request a magic type when they reach adulthood rather than writing a storybit.

Having been lurking around for a small eternity (-coughalmostayearcough-) I guess it would be sort of nice if i made it known that I'm not dead - quite alive, in fact, and though I'm about to hit second-year university here I'm still missing dragoning horribly.

Don't know how much interest there is in these guys, but I plan to keep Starfall open, and psst there are three eggs available there. -pokes sig-

Also, Adobe Dreamweaver is giving me a lot of grief with the site, but luckily I can still manage things with enough cursing at my server.

I like how you've actually got the eggs on display, Starburst. That's pretty cool!

I vaguely remember the genetics that were set up for these guys, too... yay!

I've been pretty busy with other projects lately, but I think I'm'a try my hand at one of these. They sound pretty awesome!

I've always been kind of a sucker for genetics. If I'd been a biology nerd I would have been a geneticist for sure. X3

And I'm glad to hear it ^^

How do you suppose that these guys would fare if they were crossbred with other dragons? Would you treat all of the non-Asana types as the 'normal' version of the mutations that you have for 'em? (Just out of curiosity!)

I hadn't really thought much about that, actually, though it is interesting to think about. They would produce offspring without any complications, I'd imagine (as long as sizes match up; they are pretty small dragons by comparison to a lot of other species).

Asana halfbreeds would likely still have access to the magical abilities that purebreeds do. However, they'd have to work a lot harder at honing these skills, and IC it's still debatable whether the elders at the dragonry would be willing to tattoo a halfbreed!

And since you brought up mutations, I'm kind of plotting in my head now, because though I hadn't planned for any it would be an interesting dynamic to add to the species.

Long story short, yes they can breed with other species. How exactly the genetics (colours and all that) would work out is still something that needs to be figured out on my part.

Ahh yes, I'd been meaning 'mutation' as in 'anything other than the common type on the same allele'. But I see that the colour scheme doesn't seem to follow that format, unless 'C' is the 'wild' or 'normal' colour and the others are all recessive to it! I hadn't had a chance to read about the magic that comes with these guys, though... that could make for an interesting cultural challenge!

The genetics are a little bit like Shard's Ferilon genetics, but without the physical mutations (body type, horns, etc.) - the genetics work only on a basis of colouration. Mutations would be fun to add, though - might have to have a look into that :D

On a bit of a side note - if anyone's interested, these are what all of the chakra-symbol tattoos look like zoomed in:

Just as a reference for anybody who wants to know what each looks like. ^^ The colours can of course be altered to show up better on any dragon's body colour.

I love getting storybits for characters. The way you did the interactions between Tenalic and Ariana is awesome :D

Without further ado -

Three tiny eggs sit close to one another in the nest - it isn't until he sees them up close that Tenalic realizes just how tiny they really are. With a feather-light touch, he brushes his fingers over each of the eggs in turn...

Image

He stops, startled, and draws back from the pale-gray egg. Slowly, he brings his fingertips to touch the egg a second time, and this time the sensation is not a shock. A tingle, like static, but at the same time warm and inviting and filled with unspoken emotion, surges into him.

He knows.

He cradles the egg to his chest protectively as he leaves the nest, swearing silently to himself that he won't let anything happen to the fragile little orb - or his bond inside.

It is three weeks before the egg shows any sign of movement, but when it does, Tenalic is ready. Midday, the tiny egg begins to rock and crack, and when the tiny dragon within finally peeks his little head out into the sunlight, Tenalic feels a burst of joy as he meets his bond for the first time.

Congratulations!

Oh my, mint green and purple. XD That is an interesting combination! I like his grey hair!

I was wondering what sorts of things visitors could do around Starfall... are there any chores that are asked of visitors/bonders/weyrling-types? How about entertainment? What sorts of living quarters? Any other young dragons that this little guy would wind up gravitating towards? I'm hoping to have Tenalic stay for a few years while his bond is growing up, so knowing a bit about the place would be extremely helpful regarding writing growth-stage stories! :D

Wait a jot, am I reading his genetic code when I see the following?
C*cddMm! - C!c~DdMm! - Cºc!Ddm*m*

Blue, Carries Yellow-Green
Is Paler or Darker
Normal Colour, Carries Rainbow

Violet, Carries Red-Violet
Normal Colour, Carries Paler/Darker
Normal Colour, Carries Rainbow

Orange, Carries Blue-Violet
Normal Colour, Carries Paler/Darker

Wouldn't the first one have to be Cc to be green? :o

Oh wow, am I ever awesome. Looks like i somehow managed to read the stupid generator wrong. Yes, you're right, the first one should say Cc.

-fixes-

And I'm going to double-post on myself here to answer your question about life at the dragonry!

A big thing there is astronomy, because despite the fact that the multicoloured stars are well-known as a phenomenon nobody knows quite what causes it. A pretty large team works in an observatory there both observing/naming/classifying stars and developing technology to better observe them. It's a place of innovation - aside from the observatory there are also chemistry and biology departments (lovely little radioactive Hadron Chxalli just loves the chem labs). In terms of physics, there are teams working on Nexus-wide communications and transport systems. All of the science teams gladly accept volunteers and intern-types.

I had also toyed with the idea back when I created Starfall of there being a rather large university campus in the area, where people (and members of other species, of course) can enroll in courses in specific fields. With a degree from there I'd imagine one could become a researcher in the labs with great ease (and consistently with real life four-year degree programs would be pretty mainstream with optional graduate studies).

Entertainment-wise it has a lot of lakes and hiking trails for the outdoorsy types, as well as indoor and outdoor gym/spa-type facilities and shops. I imagine it to be almost like a little city, except that imports don't come in very often (because of the fact that it's so difficult to access without portal teleportation capabilities). The dragonry consists of two areas - the more natural area where wild dragons live and the dens are located, and the 'urbanized' area containing residences and all of the other facilities (though it is, for the most part, carved out of cliff faces!).

The university is something that would be interesting in an RP-type scenario, actually XD I like the idea a lot.

@Starfyre - I'm a fan of the new digs! And yes yes yes candis are always good. I mean I know there's basically five people and a tumbleweed here lately but I can dream of getting a whole clutch out, can't I? XP

@Dray - No worries about that. I haven't been around to poke you about it. University is fun >.>

Hah! Then I'll get to work on something. Maybe that'll jar loose my muse for writing so I can write more than two or three sentences at a time for the Old Blood clutch.

ALSO. Do you guys realize that there's been more activity in the past few days since I switched the forums, than in the past few months? Lolzies.
