Southern Continent, Cibola region on the Dragondawn map. Pretty much a straight line south from High Reaches Weyr, near the mountains (sort of in the foothills).

I had fun with this story...Sedona is set up at a perfect time when I can play around with some of my characters' parents a bit. (like K'lien and Kelanik) heehee

I sent you a trio of potential NPC's for your clutch! Let me know if you got them or not -- they're not conventional Candidates but seeing as how Sedona needs Wingriders more urgently than any of my Niduses, I figured you should have first pick of who to pick.

I have here a trio of NPC's for you to keep, or if you would rather keep two and send me one to page, that works, too! I just thought that you might like to have some NPC's with back-story without having to write ALL of it down because, man, that would be a lot of work to do!

Anyways, they aren't paged yet, because I wanted to leave it up to you to decide what you want to do with them. That doesn't quite follow the Impression rules so if you don't want them, I understand!

Candidate #1:
Name: Kitti
Species: Pernese Human
Gender: Female
Height: 5'6"
Appearance: Tough and wiry, Kitti looks like she knows how to defend herself, and moreover how to take anyone down, even men much larger and heavier than her. She has tanned skin and black hair which is kept to jaw-length, and well trained muscles that, while not bulging from her body, do make an impact on her appearance. Kitti has a broken nose that mars her otherwise handsome face. Despite her somewhat overbearing presence, she does tend to smile and exude a friendly appearance, if only to make up for her training.
Personality: Born to the lower caverns of Igen, Kitti spent much of her childhood scrabbling for food and status amongst the poor. She had nothing -- her mother had died when she was quite young, and she never knew her father. She was a scrapper from an early age and managed, at the age of fourteen, to sign on to a ship headed for the Southern continent as a guard to a wealthy Holder.
Once she was across the ocean she fell into trouble: when his enemies ambushed the man and his company, nearly everyone was killed. Everyone save Kitti and the Holder, that was. She did her job and her charge was grateful. Kitti earned the first real money that she had ever seen. She settled at Southern Hold for four years, taking on more freelance protection jobs. Hunting jobs, once or twice even clean-up jobs that she will probably never speak of to anybody. She had trained herself to become proficient with each of the Hold's weapons, and proved that even tools not meant to harm could be used as such with a little innovation.
Despite this, Kitti isn't ruthless or remorseless. She regrets most of what she's done in life. She tries to be kind and generous when she has the extra marks to spare, though she has trouble really trusting people, and so hasn't had a loving relationship with anyone this far to date.
She was recently Searched and, shuffled through the Weyr system, wound up at Sedona Weyr. The quasi-military lifestyle suits her far better than Hold life, surprisingly. Kitti finds that the structured organization of even the Candidate's barracks and chores to be something that she quite enjoys.
Preference: Kitti holds no preconception about dragons. She thinks that it's mostly a man's job, however she has broken those stereotypes before.

Candidate #2
Name: Elemil (E'mil)
Species: Pernese Human
Gender: Male
Height: 5'11"
Appearance: With dark skin and darker hair kept to a tightly curled frizz, Elemil is a slight man who speaks with a stutter and moves like a mouse. He dresses in a myriad of colours and adorns himself with many trinkets and bobbles. The sound that they make when he moves is soothing, and their value as items with which to fidget obviously holds some level of comfort for him. Elemil has huge, dark eyes that are always scanning, though his stare can be quite uncanny as when he looks at a person, he seems as though he is really looking at them, looking into them as well as across their surface.
Personality: Elemil is not all well, though he is extremely perceptive and is empathic enough to border on some kind of psychic power -- though being Pern-born and raised, nobody would ever call it as such. He was born amongst Holdless traders and has spent most of his early years on the road, seeing much of Pern in the process. He was not always so nervous and easily frightened. Before Threadfall destroyed his life, he was quite human-savvy and used his gift to read a person's genuineness, and to strike a trade that benefitted himself and his people. He was quite the scoundrel, too. Elemil had two wives, and was working on a small pack of children. With the miscalculation of AIVAS, and Thread's surprise return, his people were left defenseless and out in the open. Metal shingles on their caravan's roofs only managed to stop the Thread for so long: they were miles away from solid rock caverns or checkpoints, and their Runnerbeasts were consumed right from the beginning. Elemil's family was eaten alive as Thread gorged from Runnerbeast to the unprotected underside of their wooden carts. Elemil managed to survive long enough, by some dint of miracle, to be rescued by a dragon-rider. What he saw damaged him deeply and he has never been the same, since.
At twenty-three he was brought back to the Weyr that rescued him -- which happened to be Ista, in fact -- and has spent two years recuperating, if one can call it that. He was Searched immediately for his telepathic powers, however Elemil has refused Candidacy for the last two turns due to his fright of Thread.
Only recently has he been transferred to Sedona Weyr for a change of location. It would seem that his recovery is slowly allowing him to accept that life must move on: he does have one card up his sleeve that he has never shared with anyone, after all. The dragons support him, for he can speak with them just as easily as he can speak with humans.
Preference: For a sensitive man like Elemil, a blue would probably make sense. He's not in a place where he can lead people, and may never be. Riding a Search dragon or a Watchrider might suit him better than joining a fighting wing.

Candidate #3
Name: Rosalan
Species: Pernese Human
Gender: Female
Height: 5'5"
Appearance: Rosalan has darkly tanned skin and sun-bleached auburn hair, with warm brown eyes that are sometimes left adrift as she seems always to be thinking about something. She keeps to practical clothing, always, stripping down to shorts and a heavy tool-belt when it's especially hot even if it bothers other holders to see her chest uncovered. She simply can't be bothered to follow conventions of politeness, and her eccentricities are largely forgiven by her fellow holders: she is after all the best mechanic that the small, southern hold has to offer.
Personality: Rosalan is a Jill of all trades: she has a knack for mechanical construction and seems to be happiest when she has something to fix, or better yet, to dream into creation. Rosalan was born to a small southern hold that grew as an offshoot of the more populated Holds being established on the continent, raised with other children in an equal setting to help keep the hold running. Because there were not many people living there to begin with, each child was given equal opportunity to help around the hold and Rosalan quickly demonstrated her affinity for fixing things. Since then, and with the advances in technology that AIVAS has granted (even if they are limited in a newly settled hold) Rosalan has become the go-to girl when dealing with anything that needs to be fixed. She's sixteen, now, and is somewhat disgruntled to be called away on Search to Sedona Weyr. Fixing riding straps is not exactly her idea of putting her skills to best use... though when push comes to shove, she does respect dragonriders enough not to desert their cause.
Preference: Green, most likely. She abhors the idea of becoming a leader and having to manage people. She isn't much for dragonriding to begin with, but if she's going to do it, she might as well get into the thick of it.

Ha ha, those are great, thanks! On Elemil, two wives, at once? I never really thought about it, but apparently Pern does have polygamy, if Fax is anything to go by. I think there are theories that one of the other Lords had two wives as well.
Or just, you know, divorce and remarry, or whatever. XD

lol I like it but Senshyen's simplicity (without the timing it and 'fancy' stuff) is also nice. I think I may just send you some Sedona Weyr-based weyrbrates later. lol heehee Of course, it's fun going back in time, even farther then Dark Moon WeyrHold, to write for characters that exsisted long before Falas was even founded. lol And to have my characters from the 11th Pass popping in from time to time to Search. lol I just kinda assumed that Sedona would be 'in on the Falas secret' being that my riders are running around and what not. lol I did find it funny how we both portrayed the beginning of the 10th Pass the same way. XD

Though, I don't know if I have Sedona Weyr right on the map here:

I've noticed that some of the locations for the Weyr's differet on the book maps but I placed the locations of the cannon weyrs for my map based off the one in dragonsdawn I think (only becasue I created this map with the intention of making Threadfall charts...

And yeah, that location looks about right for Sedona. It's really nice to see a map with actual plains/forest biomes on it; usually it's just all mountains.

Argh, I meant to get some character stories written up this week, but most of my time the past few days has been spent napping and staring blankly at the computer screen. Nasty, nasty cold bug.

I'll try and get some stat sheets written up at least. Would be a shame to have most of that clutch be filled up with NPCs.

Er, not sure what you're asking, Shard. Do you mean extra NPCs over the seven per person limit? (Which I'd prefer not to do, if that's the case. I'm not that averse to keeping some NPCs for myself. XD)

lol Okay what I am saying is, there's a 7 limit, which I believe I've met (except for the one for the next clutch). However 3 of those are going to you as yours to do with... What I'd like to do is add 3 more of my *own* for the clutch, since technically... you could say that the 3 I made for you are 'yours'.
