Asian Dragon Giveaway

Not sure how many of you guys (if any) remember my Asian-style dragons that I had a while back, but I made up a decent template for them finally and want to spread the love.

They're called "Hyedhostar", which is a bit of a mouthful so feel free to call them Furred Asian Dragons. More detailed info is up: on my general species page.

They come in several variations:
Tribe: Fire, Water, Earth/Forest, Ice, Wind, Lightning
Mane: Long, Short, Curly

Due to being genetically modified members of Generation 2, they don't have any pedigrees that come with them. If requested, I can supply an adoptive parent pair from Generation 1. I'll also supply personalities.

Do they require bonds to be made for them then?

Bonds are not required, nope. They tend to form "looser" bonds than other creatures, often becoming more distant as they get older and supporting co-bonded. (Kind of like the wilder Wylds.)

I figure the colours should be pretty self-explanatory as to their tribe. The grey is Air and the ice blue is Ice. The adoptive parents are listed as Male and Female, with Alskyran name patterns kept. I'll make sibling lists once the giveaway winds down. :)

Ah I thought Alskyr also used the last two letters of mom and dad. :P Shows how much I know.

They speak telepathically to other species and also vocally in their own native tongue to each other. (Originally the vocalizations were by tribe, but these guys have been raised by mixed tribe parents, mostly.)

I haven't really thought about the pronounciation. I usually say "Hi-ed-hoss-tar".

Yeah the Alskyran islands have specific endings, but not a maternal/paternal inheritance pattern. That's Icarian draks. But they're still cool anyway. I'm hoping that my net connection holds out enough to get my 4 up. I paired them with some Usagi of mine, elemental users.

Question again - how large are they? I'm putting together a group image of my Dragon Guard for the Usagi and have no clue what size these guys are.

Length: Between 20-30 ft. The females tend to be slightly larger than the males (average about 27 ft vs. the males' 25 ft) and the Earth, Ice and Lightning types are smaller than the Fire, Water and Wind types.

Height: I'd say about 3-4 ft at the shoulder due to their Asian-ness. Their wingless flight isn't related to body size so psh large humanoids are no problem.

It sounds like these guys' breeding cycles have been much shortened. Have their overall lifespans also been much shortened, or do they still live for multiple cycles of 300-400 years? And you mentioned that their parents were adoptive, not their blood parents? How quickly do they reach adulthood/maturity?

Their lifespans have been significantly shortened as well. Before they were essentially immortal until the thing that killed off all of Generation 0. Generation 2 (these guys) can probably live up to 500 years, with cycles every 5 years. Their reproductive cycles are still disproportionally frequent, but that's because they lost their ability to shapeshift as part of the modifications as well.

The story behind them is that Generation 1 fled their planet as it and its life forms started to self-destruct. These are the guys I sent out as candidates. Due to their very low reproductive rate, they were concerned about their species' survival and decided to ask geneticists for some in vitro help. However, the gestation would've been too long and they ended up tinkering with a bunch of stuff, using the entire available gene pool to create a kind of "blend". From this, the genetics team was able to "purify" back to the base elemental types, though they couldn't tell which was which. They then put these embryos in the Generation 1 females that volunteered to carry them to term.

These guys are actually the second "batch" so to speak, so they're a bit more type-specific to their parents. The initial "batch" was only carried by Diaji and Kalyzel and had a whole mess of kits per litter. The geneticists were much more forgiving this time! (Probably because Diaji had some choice words with them - carrying 8 albeit shrunk babies is no fun when your body's meant for 1!)

So yeah, their parents are part of the greater biological sample, but they're not more related to those parents than other Generation 1 adults. However, their mother carried them to term and their father helped her raise them. They probably stayed with mom and dad for about 5 years before being sent out alone. That could cut down to about 3 years for those that bonded.

They reach maturity at about 10-15 years of age. Their reproductive cycles tend to start off slowly then speed up as they reach their "peak" and then slow down again as they age. They never exactly stop, but they can go up to 10 cycles without an actual breeding when they reach senior status.
