So anyway, it's been 2 years (were did the years go?). The "update my riders" has been on my to-do list for far too long and now I've finally decided to finish the task! I'll try to post the links here as I upload the places and for people who'd like to update their records I'll post my candidates per adoption place and clutch (but that will be after I've done the rest).

Anyway, watch for news at
http://lantessama.com
- Lantessama - updating riders
- Gineya Isle - layout done, updating a few stories
- Keltic Spirit Glade - make new layout since the images are gone.
http://planeticarus.com
- Dragon tears - basically done, tweak the layout to work
Acicade: done http://www.planeticarus.com/Acicade
DesCas: all that's left is updating some knights (flight stories)

o/ Good to see you back, Trix! Does this mean there will be more Lantessama pretties? I liked Lantessama and the holiday clutches so much, and was rather sad I never got involved in more of them.

And you are totally awesome for putting the Icarus stuff up online again. I know Jkat and a few others were trying to find the Drak information a few weeks ago, so that'll be a happy discovery for them.

Yes and they were quite nice too since we made a mistake (so many zeroes made us think we needed to go big which isn't needed for just dragoning). They corrected it easily. We Belgians like to make jokes about the Netherlands but truth be told they're awesome (*gets lynched by fellow Belgians*)

Hey, Planet Icarus is back! That's handy! Also I'm dumb and somehow missed this thread until now, so dur. XD

Actually, since I can't seem to find it in the general Drak information, I was wondering about Drak sizes! How big do they get? Do the sizes vary based on the type of Drak?

Whee i didn't know there was so much interest in Icarus anymore.. I guess the size of an adult drak is about... (thinks of diferent animals) Well perhaps humans come till the schoulder of the drak? Hmm there is a way of saying this properly
I can say this though: Draks are all same size :D

Ee, wicked. :D

So something like this?

Image

(or if you prefer, in feet?)

How much bigger than that would they get? How much smaller?

**eta**
Errr, that was supposed to be a drak on the chart, but I realize now it only has one set of wings... o__O The real chart will have draks! XD

*grins* that IS a Drak, just a mutation that occured in the Baskar regiion. They're legend Draks. I was going to point out you had the "wrong" one, too. LOL That's actually about how big I had mine. *nods* I had females a bit smaller and runts, too. *shrugs*

Ug...I soooo need to redo the shoulder on that template. LOL XD

Still it'd probably be best to have a "real" two-winged drak on there. Might I suggest a Sidra or DeCorvo drak because those were the founders of Icarus? I think I have some adopted draks from those castles, Shard'll probably have some too :p
Also I took some info on drak sizes right from the planet icarus forum:

I believe (though it's been a bit since this has been discussed, and anyone who knows otherwise may thwack me and correct) they vary from 20 to 30 feet long, so standing upright at the shoulder, they'd probably be about human height, more or less. Somewhere around 6, possibly 7 feet for the larger ones. On all fours to the shoulder would probably be closer to your average horse, about even with a human's shoulder.

So Cyan was about right. She remembered well.
http://icarus.suddenlaunch2.com/

- I should really start copying that info into the planet icarus main info site... or maybe Cyan can do that while I'm away on holiday *winks innocently*

Awesome, that's perfect!

I would love to have some of the founding images for the chart! That would be so perfect. (And it was always my intention to have a 'proper' drak on the chart anyways, I just didn't look close enough at that example there before saving. Bad me!) But I don't know what they look like, I'm afraid. Could someone toss me some links, or an example? I'd like to include all 12 types, if possible!

I think, also, that I'm going to end up putting two drak images on the chart -- one standing, one on all fours, if possible, just to give people an indication that both postures are acceptable. I have a good standing-upright example from Shard -- ideally, I'd love an all-fours one from Sidra or DeCorvo, but I can work around whatever you have available!

I don't have all Sidra or Decorvo colours, but I do know that Sidra draks are seeted like this one:
http://www.planeticarus.com/Descas/Aspirants/Bjorn.htm
and Decorvo draks are drawn standing up like this one:
http://www.planeticarus.com/Descas/Aspi ... aptain.htm

Shard has three sets of pretty dragon i believe and I personally feel that the Dawn set I made are the prettiest i ever drew for icarus... really, that adult male is so pretty *hugs it*
I haven't adopted one yet (I think the first clutch is still in the deep cavern), but here is one:

XD I should have warned you, Kat, that I had more then one variety. I do have "traditional" Drak. See: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v284/ ... st_brn.gif *shrugs* I do think the wings are the wrong-size ratio, however. *sighs*

Though I agree with using images from the original creators.:)

Hmm.. I could use the Sidra draks, you still get a good idea of size at the shoulder for those...

but darn it, Trix, I like yours better, and they're standing nice and upright. XD I guess it's a case of conceptually awesome vs. visually awesome.

Actually, I might define it this way: Can we find one of each type for the Sidra draks? I can find Fire, Forest, Night, Ore, Rain and Wind... anybody have any of the others? If not, Trix, would you be willing to supply one of each type of your lovely images for me to chart up?

Drockh-Tallahn Castle: 3 eggs, 2 available. Females and males needed.
Sgiath Wolfkeep: 7 pups available
Sedona Weyr: 12 eggs, Deadline March 8. Chasers and a female needed.

The old Sidra Castle is still up and there's a forest on the portals site. I have two sidra draks but both of them are fires. I found a wind on the old Lanaara site which adopted the images after Sidra closed

From Decorvo I have that Mud and a Water:
http://www.planeticarus.com/Descas/Aspirants/Marnys.htm

I think there are quite a few image-sets around though. Shard has three that have been used by various castles, I have 2, Cyan has 4 or 5, Yakima has 1, Decorvo and Sidra, I think we can easily make twelve to give a different set-image for each colour.

A couple of updates!

A Drak chart with the updated sizes (6-7ft at the shoulder standing, 20-30ft long):

Image
And with meters.
Does that look about accurate? They're much smaller this way than considering 6-7ft at the shoulder on all-fours. What do you lovely Drak experts think is more appropriate?

And that's why I'm trying to collect all one type of Drak image, just to keep the charts nice and clean and small; four images max, while communicating that all Drak types are equal in size. :)

I don't think a knight could even ride the smallest of that range. They'd be so top heavy that they'd need frickin' head wings to stay aloft!

I think they'd need to be around 8 feet at that bipedal standing, instead. :)

Hmmm...just a thought, but instead of using the height to shoulder with the bi-pedral ones, use the hip? If the Bi-ped dropped to all fours they would still be the "same" height as the non bi-ped ones. *shrugs*
