If we're going by only pernese, then yeah I think... HD, Blackstone / Alabaster and Dragonhope are my pernese ones. My own records are so spotty...

I don't know if I'd want to also list the giveaways, but the Alabaster/Blackstone mass giveout did put a bunch more offspring into the mix from old-worlders. I don't think the listing there is updated either, there are more than what I listed on it.

Ah - I'm going down my list of folders and though not all of these are true pernese I may as well chuck em out there.

Does Whiterock Weyr count? I know it's based out of Livejournal and it's rather self-contained... but at the same time, Kitsuneko has told us that we could breed our critters out into the Nexus if we want, so those clutch charts may wind up coming in handy some day down the road. o.o

Just announcing that the Cincanta and Talor Cliff Records are complete...unless I find parents of dragons for the Genology Records as it goes along.

Talor Cliff kept showing up as I did the DMWH charts so I had to get that one done first for my piece of mind. Jerdan, Aden, Gallimim (which I've finally learned to spell without looking at it! XD) are next because they're central one's too.

I changed the format a bit, added color (because color is pretty and it's easier to find dragons when you're looking for a certain color this way...

)

If anyone has records of Weyr's I've never heard about or whatever and you want them added, please e-mail the info or something. *shrug* I found Andromeda Weyr's records, but some (like Adanuk...grr...Brevith's parents are lost in time...) are completely gone.

I really hope this project is/will help out more then just me. XD The Genology Records (and I hope that term sounds good for it...) have 4 generations (well, 5 if you include the kids but I don't show them...that's what the clutch charts are for.

) so you get more then you really need. XD

Anyway, off to bed and a hatchling to finish inking!

Okay, so there are a lot of us that have saved records of many different places over the years. Some places I never heard of. Which is why last night while working on the Genetic Database and going through the Falas Records, I started a spreadsheet that would act just like the current Archive (with pretty much the same info). Except search-able.

This is what the spreadsheet looks like now:

Basically, the info I'm starting with is:
Dragon's Name
Color
Color Class (basically what the first part of the DNA strand would say the dragon is...)
Size Class
Gender
Rider
Place of Hatching
Clutch #
Sire
Dam

There are some I don't think everyone will need for a pedigree (Color Class and Size Class, mainly), but the Color Class will help show the natural and genetic rares better, I think. (unlike, oh, look! A white! I can have rares because she's natural...or whatever).

I also was thinking that maybe I could tweak this (or make a separate one, as there were sooooo many Weyrs back in the day) and create one for other Nexus places (like Star City, Treval, The Abstract Destiny, ect), and open it to anyone who wants to add there records. That would have to be a big more complex due to the fact that there are so many differences. Color Class would be taken out and Size is something I would like to keep because when breeding you could find out how big the ancestors are/were and determine the size of the resulting babies.

The reason why I bring this up is because this way people could use the same table template, put records into an Excel or spreadsheet program and send it to me to update into the Database. I don't know a lot about this database thing yet (like where in the MyPHP thing is says something about tables...I don't know if that means I can upload different tables for each Weyr/location rather then having it on one very big, long list....)

Anyway, would anyone be willing to help with it? All we have to do is agree on what info to put into the tables (and with repeat names it's good to have riders and stuff, as some links only link to riders and not the dragon's name). Not going to guarantee that this endeavor will last but it's and idea I wanted to toss out there. XD

I already have an excel database for all my characters (which needs to be updated, but still...), it could probably be tweaked to fit fairly easily.

Well, it's mostly for clutch records. XD Like I was doing before here but hopefully in a way that everything can be searchable. We'll lose the tables I have now but it might be better for search purposes. *shrug* I can get a few places up and see how it works.

I just know that some people have printed records. It might be easier if they put them up instead of me. Less hassle. *shrug*

Okay, I added a poll about this.

I found out you can Search a PDF file so, yeah, it's an option (and it's very easy to make and edit so I like that idea, actually). Just want your preferance or what you think will work better.

Also, if the Database wins, someone is gonna have to show me how to set that up. I can't find a tutorial that I can understand...>.< Actually, I would still need that info for the Genetic Database...

Okay, so I only have five votes but...one is mine so it doesn't count (it's just quicker to see the results that way). It's 100% for the Database.

So, DF is gonna give the code for that and I'll give it a test run with what I have and see if it works. That is what I really would like to do.

So, if I do pedigree's as a PDF, will that work for you guys? *tilts head* XD

And if I end up combining the Genetic Database with this is that okay? Less tables/databases for me to update would be great...XD

Okay, this is a long shot request but...

Dose anyone have the records for clutches 1 & 2 at Dark Moon? I'm not having any luck (because most people didn't put parents' names and siblings back then...just the whole You Walk into a Weyr type. >.<)

I know gold Ezuath (who is listed in the Sapphire Wings) and bronze Tyrith are the parents of one of the clutches and gold Zyranth and (I'm guessing bronze Tyrith) is the parents of the other which makes those three originals (unless Ezuath is the daughter of Zyranth).

brown Abyth and blue Sundith are the children of Ezuath and Tyrith for sure.

And I think blue Byrnith (one of Shards) is the son of Zyranth and (Tyrith?).

I mean, if these are lost-lost forever, that's fine, but It would be wonderful to find them. I don't know what URL Azala had before her bluecrayon.org move otherwise I would try to do a WayBack search on that, too. XD

LOL, yeah, but I only have about 5-6 Weyrs recorded. Both passes for Falas, Dark Moon Weyr, Dark Moon WeyrHold, Aden, Aneris, and I just finished Cincanta.

And a handful of cannon created dragons, too.

This is gonna be one long list.

Thankfully it will be searchable. XD

Yeah, once I get the clutch charts (or most of them) I'm going to add those, too. I think Delyar was going to try to figure those out at one point. >.<

Right now I am just putting all the pernese ones in. I skipped the Alskyrian clutches at Falas Weyr and the FGPC for now. I want to get as many of the lost weyrs-records in there before I worry about other breeds. And I don't know how to record them yet for sizes and color classes. I may have to tweak this but later, if we want to add other species to it. XD

I'd love to see other species added, if only because I've done many more clutches of 'em than of Pernese types! If you want the AEC links for my guys, give me a shout. X3 I think those are the other Pernese types that I've got!

Oh, I'm not going to do links. That would drive me insane. Heehee. People move there riders so much half the time or they vanish it's worthless to do that. That's why I don't put links on the pedigree's pages or on the character pages. Having to go change them all the time drives me insane.

Anyway, I have to get the stupid thing to upload into PHPmyadmin first. I can't get it to. I have no idea why. It's being stupid. The first table uploaded just fine. I just forgot what I did the first time. It uploads the first row, then nothing after that. grrr...

So, anyway, I'll just keep adding to the file until I can get it to upload. *glowers at it*

If anything, we can make a seperate database for non-Pernese dragons and whatnot. *shrugs* These are the feilds that I am using for this (so if anyone wants to make an excel or spreadsheet document for a place they have records for, this is the format to use:

Any help is appreciated. If you want to start one for a non-pernese site, that's fine, too. We might have to add a Species feild, though.

GID is a quick code that helps the dragon's stay in the right order, for the most part. Each Weyr/Location has a 3-digit number. 102 is Dark Moon Weyr's number. 011 is for the clutch. If a dragon is cannon or came from one of McCaffrey's Weyrs, I use 000 for the clutch number (like we're gonna know what clutch number Fort Weyr is on, after all! LOL) the 016 for Flynnth is because she's listed 16th for her clutch (I list largest to smallest so being a sport she's last even if she's a gold)

Also, I intend, just because it's easier to look at, to put the pedgirees up as PDF files. I was going to do one really bit file but...would you prefer me to seperate them? Perhaps single "books" for places like Falas, Talor Cliff, Dark Moon, ect that had a lot of clutches and then put the minor places that had like...3 clutches, in one book?

I also realized that OpenOffice has a database program that works just like the SQL or whatever it is. I also have no idea what either one means by tables within the database. If it works like I think it does, does that mean I could have one table called Falas Weyr and another table called Talor Cliff Weyr?

need inputs here...what info do YOU want in the Database? Meaning, when you seach for a dragon what information is just a "that's nice to know" type of thing.

I put 'other' because I like the idea of having both a website (searchable database or no) AND a .pdf that people can download. I know that it's more work, but redundancy seems to be the key against the degradation that internet-based information suffers over time. XD

Maybe chuck what you have into a pdf, and use the online version as a more malleable, up to date source? Update the pdf every X months as things change, make it like a seasonal edition or something and renew every three or four months... providing all that you're doing is dropping some data that you've already compiled into it? If it takes more work, maybe update it once a year?

Hmmm...see, i like that idea, too. And you can search within a PDF.

How about this:

For now, I just concentrate on the PDF Record Books. In them it'll have the pedgirees AND the clutch charts for each Clutch. This is Falas Weyr's record book with just the pedigrees. I can easily stick the Clutch charts in there, no problemo! Perhaps put the Chart then the Pedigree. The only "downside" to those is that some Pedgress may be updated as I find more lost dragons. XD Well, it may be like having to download new versions of a program, truthfully. XD Or to view.

Then, when I have the database figured out, we can do the database thing, eh? I have everything in a spreadsheet, but I can't get my webserver to corporate. >.<

Question about Clutch 6 at Cincanta Weyr.

One thing I'm not fond of is when two males catch one female...and the owner dosn't divide them out under each father. *sighs* So, dose anyone mind if I divide that clutch up? I know it's kinda...stepping on toes, sorta, but Syobeth is in that clutch, and Derroth...and I can't figure out there genetics if I don't know who's the father! XD (I can always claim that the FGPC figured it out.
