Kitten!

Post by StarFyre »

On the trip up north to go to the wedding of Joe's sister, we stopped at my parents' house.... and found that my father was taking care of seven kittens and their mama. They were about eight weeks old, so we ended up taking one back home with us after a bit of thought (and poling our other two roommates).

We named him Laharl (after the main character in the Disgaia series). He's a cute little active spazball of black fur, very well behaved (even at the vet, as we found out today, though he does have a nice set of lungs on him. When he had blood drawn, he howled loud enough for the entire clinic to hear.)

Below be cuteness.

OMG CUTE!!! :D

It's been so long since I've had kittens! All my cats are full-grown and aloof!

*melt*

I want a kitten so bad but my boyfriend is allergic to cats. Baby reptiles don't have the same cute factor.

That thing is TINY! I've never seen a kitten in my life IRL before.

Laharl officially weighs 1.8 lbs...

You think he's small? He had a runt brother who was about 1/3 his size in the litter that we were thinking about taking instead (because the runt was also outgoing and curious).

For all of you who want to call me crazy, I'm harness training Laharl so I can walk him on a leash ^^ He doesn't mind the harness in the slightest.

Now's the time to do it, if he doesn't mind, that's awesome. All my cats... lol. I can't even keep a flea collar on any of mine, and my old cat Basti ... she nearly strangled herself on a cord one time, so she was always quite leery of any collar and such, so whenever I tried putting something on her, she'd literally fall to her side and not move. Like she was paralyzed with fear. :( So... if you've got a harness cat, good goin!

*laughing* So I decided to clip the leash onto his harness today, now that he's accustomed to the harness itself...

Geesh, you'd think I was murdering the poor kitten! "meeeeeew *pitiful kitten eyes* meeeeeeeeeew *walks around a bit, more pitiful kitten eyes* meew..."

Oh cats, they're so amusing.

I'm sure with plenty of praise and maybe some treats, he'll grow to like it. Maybe sprinkle some catnip on the harness?

Oh, he's getting treats alright... soft fish-flavored treats of doom that he'll go through hell or high water to get at. It's just amusing to see his reaction to the first time on the leash.

There's apparently no hard feelings about it though =P Seeing as he's curled up asleep on my lap right now.

SO CUTE!

While on holidays I ran across a lady whose tiny kitten was snugged up in the back of her hoodie. D: SO CUTE, oh man! Best of luck with the training!
