Of course that's always been my problem. I'm horrible at running clutches and I know it :D I'm such a flake and usually abandon things after one or two (if any) hatchings and then wonder why I never get any candidates  But I guess I've just enjoyed adopting other people's dragons more than adopting out my own.

For which I'm glad -- at least in terms of expressing interest. XD I did enjoy your Cyrnans (the Cyrnans were yours, right? It's bee quite some time!) though... I need to go dig the one up that I got so long ago for my b-day that I (think?) I paged with a bunch of others all together.

>_> I don't think I expected the BWR to last as long as it has been. It's just become the most fun of the agencies that I tried out. I like not having to write a tonne of back-story, and I really like seeing what carries on for several generations (at least in terms of colours... I admit that I'm biased when I draw the templates) and what gets weeded out. And seeing what people leap for first is always interesting -- usually it's not at all what I'd have expected!

Whenever I'm interested, it's more often because of the powers or a personality quirk, than anything else. Like with Oammo's choice, it was pretty much a nobrainer :)

I do the same thing, Shard. Most of the time I can't even /see/ the images because work blocks photobucket so I make decisions based on what personality or powers would best compliment one of my characters!

I *used* to look at colors, but lately I go more for personality/ability, too. Nowadays it seems like for each generation, there's only a few that are ACTUALLY red/black/white and the rest are random, but the ones that have the colors I like have personalities I'm not intrigued by. XD Oh the indecision!

Lol Phe, same here. For the fireling clutch, the one I think is the coolest looking has a personality that I'm not sure would go with my character. But it *might.* I'm pretty indecisive for this clutch, but at the same time, I like all of them and would pretty much be happy with any. But first I have to, you know, get the story written *typetype*

XD Oh, personalities. They're inherited too, which might explain some things -- I liked doing that better than randomly generating 'em from Myrror's site, and I'd gotten to the point where I was just making personality-clones when I did 'em myself!

I'm still stuck on Pern...

XD

I find it hard to find time to draw these days. Some of my dragons were drawn at work in back-drive. Now they get royaly pissed off if I even LOOK at a pencil when I'm back there. Grrrr...that and me standing there anyway hurts with my hip injury that never really has healed. (I can thank my stupid horse for that one). And even with Treval so I have a place to put the non-Pernese dragons, I find good ol Pern to be much easier for me. XD Though, I like Treval, too.

Which now brings me to the point I actually visited this thread:

Dray, I am to lazy to find the deadline for the last red clutch but I have Criio on a page but I'm still undecided about the upload because I actually intended for Kiitan to bond her, not sponser her or whatever. >.< Unless I can have her bond him despite what the info said. I didn't know that on the stats it meant they wouldn't bond. I thought it meant they didn't have to. :P

*shrugs* So yeah, until I decide where to page her, she's floating in my folder. XD

You can always do a magical bond, ala Avengaea. :)

As for deadlines, they're the same as the date to pick up the newest clutch. This one's date was around the 28th.

(I'm curious, if you're too lazy to look up deadlines, when you post about your various critters and don't link to 'em or anything, how do you expect us to find out more about them? XD It's something I've noticed a couple of times in the past.)

I've done that with at least one, without the specific rituals mentioned - since it was clearly an aven that would normally have gone through that process.

>_> I need to get some candidates done. I keep futzing around.

That really didn't make sense. I was really posting about the bonding thing. I don't know what you mean by linking. A lot of my Treval pages are a scattered mess in the process of being reorganized. *shrug* Sorry. I knew the deadline was 20-something. I wasn't trying to be lazy.

Criio is up, Dray. Same page as Kiitan. :)

Oh, another question (probably a dumb one but). If the abilities dosn't say 'verbal speech' it means they can't talk, right? Or can they still talk...*blinks*

If your dragon doesn't have 'verbal speech' then when it opens its mouth, think dragon-y noises instead of understandable words. If it doesn't even possess 'telepathy' of some kind, assume that it can communicate mentally within very short distances, usually only to one person at a time. The quirk with these clutches is that they've interbred with so many species that the genetics are a little unstable; while some kits/hatchlings have fine-tuned tongues, malleable lips and a set of vocal cords with a nice range, others miss out on that, but tend to have stronger other abilities.

Woot, thanks for the paging update! :D

Aside from the ability to speak aloud, she's exactly like a normal sentient. Think less 'dog/horse' and more 'mute person'. She can still read, if taught, and could probably write with a claw-tip if given the proper surface to do so.

I assume they would also be able to learn a dialect of their own, right? Like, Sound A means Tree and Sound B means Snake etc.? Just their mouths can't form human sounds.

Pretty much! If there are other dragons around who have a dialect that a throat and mouth like that can handle, then they'll be swimming. I'd imagine that it might include a lot more body-language, given they have an extra set of limbs AND a tail (and some of them have ears that move easily as well) to gesture with!

Heh, my horse is pretty smart and our dog tells us a lot without words so to me it's pretty much the same. It would be like my aryor unuicorns which are as smart as humans but are equine otherwise. :P I understand. Now I might be able to write some kind of story...I wanted to make sure before I wrote it and had her talking all the time. LOL

Phe: I just got it! ^_____^ Loving the snakey fire-wings.... (Oooh, that'd go well with the phoenix-dragon with their crazy wings, too. >.>" I have plans...)

That means that there's one spot left! I may be able to close this a day or two early, woot!

Welp, send 'em in anyhow? I usually make a bunch of extras... and if anything, this is one of the few clutches were I could add extrees. XD (I was going to make it a surprise if anyone sent in an application after it had technically filled up, but you guys sound so down!)

Squee! All right, I'll hurry up and finish my story then. I don't want it to be rushed, but I do tend to over-write things if I'm not pressured by a deadline, so it's probably for the best.

Also, this is probably a sign that I am WAY overthinking things and have too much spare time (huzzah, summer break), BUT...

I was looking at the hatchlings and I noticed that the one who has neither verbal speech nor telepathy also has unlimited shifting. SO, one can argue, if they are sentient enough to learn the language of wherever they're going, which I assume they are, then wouldn't it be trivial to shift into something that can speak that language and therefore overcome the communication barrier?

Yeah, I can has a life now plz :P

(Sometimes the generator is goofy and I don't notice. XD)

They might be a little slower to grasp languages, considering many hatchlings/young are born able to speak anywhere from instantly out of the shell to a few weeks afterwards. Maybe place them on learning speech at a human-child level of development instead of super-quick, like most dragons?
