Getting the ball rolling!

Okay, so after Rielth's clutch hatches, my focus will be on the FGPC, the two clutches currently on the sands, and the of Elves and Magic Frenzy, which I am still looking for a few participants for.

Normal Sands: There are two unaltered clutches on the sands at this time. I am accepting candidates for them all at once but they will hatch individually. The FGPC accepts just about anything as long as it's humanoid - these are Pernese dragons after all.

Frenzy: The Of Elves and Magic Frenzy (which I will refer to as the EMF...kinda like the AEC

) is going to be flown soon...or I want it to. I would like to use other peoples dragons, not just mine...though I might use two of mine that I was going to do a giveaway for: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v284/ ... kaomeh.gif and her mate http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v284/ ... al/tal.gif but we will see. If anyone has any dragons, please let me know. I want to get drawing these (there will only be adults, unless a bug bites me and I do hatchlings, too)

Candidates, actually, can be sent in at anytime. There are a special case for these candidates. THey can/have to be magical. You can even send in vampires (but let them be warned that there is sever punishment for killing people on the island), and other weird, even dark creatures, stand for this clutch. If any of the dark ones get out of like, they'll be answering to Tabyen. If you've read Yenna's story, you know what he is, and so does Yenna - but NO one else in Pern knows what he is, only what he can do as a Necromancer. The two responsiable for this Frenzy is Tabyen and Tay.

There is now a deadline for the two clutches on the sands: March 28th, 2009. I will hatch this clutch regardless of how many I have. I have none - I will use NPC's just to get it hatched so I can move on to the Frenzy.

Still accepting applicants for the Elves and Magic Frenzy. I know there is still a list I need to sort through, though.

I have four candidates; anyone else? *blinks* After this I will be working on the Frenzy, which will be run with a deadline and the number of eggs will depend on how many candidates I get - meaning, I'm not going to tell you how many eggs there are nor who has how many.

I've been working on a couple candidates as well, I just have to get them written. I'm pretty sure I'll be able to get them done before the deadline though (just to clarify, do you want them before the 28th, or by the end of the 28th?)

by the 28th...or at least the end of this weekend. *shrug* I would really like to hatch it by Monday, or on Sunday. If I have to hatch it mid-week to wait for some candidates, that's fine, too, but I want to get a move on with clutches.

Both Falas and the FGPC will be having some changes, lots of them. I redid my timelines (not that many of you really care about that.

XD) and I have more then the crap with Philippe planned. Like...oh, change of leadership and how I do clutches and how I do rares, some new faces at the Weyr, and whatnot. I have a genetic code figured out that not only makes rares with rare parents rare but what kind of rares are possible. *smirk* Its easy yet kinda hard to explain. I'm still experimenting with it. I'm also planing some kind of event/events to eliminate a lot of my NPC riders so that I can try to fill up my wings with dragons that actaully COME from other Weyrs...the way this 'game' is meant to be played. XD *shrug*

But I'm not dealing with the event stuff until my most recent plot wraps up. I want to 'go back to the old-days' when a rare dragon, even a white, was rare. I've become far to rare-happy myself it annoys me. So much so that I'm probably going to go and change the colors of some of my NPC dragons from certian clutches so that I don't feel so guilty. The FGPC will still have more rares then the Weyr but there are times that I just like reading some of the stories if they are interesting enough.

Speaking of which, has anyone seen/heard form Kesava?

I was all set to finish reading her stories from the last AEC and I think she vanished before she finished them.

*shuts up and works on FGPC layout....'cause I finally found a font I like!!! Yay!*

Ooh, is there going to be some kind of information placed up about your genetic system? I'd be curious to see, considering that I remember some weird info about Pernese dragons having three-stranded DNA... you could make some really wacky combinations based off of that idea!

Mmm, Weyrs. XD I may try to find a way to make one that's not as writing-heavy, since I'm not as into that as drawing... but I still really like the idea of 'filling up the Wings with dragons from other Weyrs' that you were talking about. 83

It's what I have so far. Not sure if it should be 3 or 4 letters per...whatever they're called. Alleles? *shrug* 3, come to think if it, would make more sense with a triple helix DNA, eh?

Oh, and whatever the first allele is, is what they are.

Now, anyone know of a really good, logical way on combining DNA like this? Any ideas appreciated. I barely remember biology DNA studies in...oh...10th grade.

Do females get the mother's DNA portion in front or can they be flipped...and vise versa.

All my dragons will be getting there codes on there pages, not that I breed Falas dragons in the nexus very much, but then you can all see what they are 'capable' of.

Truthfully, Dray, the Weyr dosn't have to be really writting heavy. Skip flight stories and just write the hatchings, if that's what you mean. I just like plots and stories and such so all of what I do dosn't mean everyone else has to. I want to fill my Weyr with riders I'm attached to, not NPCs and, sadly, the other riders who impressed in the 10th Pass in other weyrs that were sorry excuses for candidates...ie...Zemparlay (my favorite little green rider who Impresses with Synde...Mentorsa is simply evil, I keep her around for that reason.

Lowering her wedged shaped head down the green stopped at one of Zemparalay’s friends; Mentorsa. Zemparlay grinned when the rider announced that Menny had been searched. Then the dragon moved on. Finally she stopped at Zemparlay who held her breath. She glanced at the rider who smiled and nodded.

Zemparlay grinned and hugged Gerlana. She was dragon worthy!

Yeah...that was it. Sad. I had some that were worse.

*shrugs* Filling my Weyr with riders that impresses elsewhere is harder today because Pern is slow, truthfully.

This is why even my queens will be having clutches smaller then 20 even if it should be 30-40 eggs at a time 'cause they're in a Pass.

I plan on having 5 queens at Falas Weyr...well, real queens. Flynnth and my Phalinth don't count. Firestone lessens how many times they can clutch and the size. Both have twin/triplet/quartet possibilities, though...>.< We are not completely spared by her infestation. LOL. The FGPC will have 3 queens total.

Dray, you open a Weyr, and you'll get candidates from me. Just because yours would be fresh fodder for me to get more dragons that arn't friggin' NPCs! LOL[/quote]

Hmm, if we're talking three strands, I'd say that there'd be six letters. One dominant, one recessive for each strand. o.o' I haven't taken much on genetics for a very long time, either, so I'm foggy -- JKat is better than I am, though Pernese dragons are such a special case due to their random pre-determined colours!

I think you can list the mothers and fathers genes in any order you want -- it's the dominant gene that always shows, no matter where it's listed in your annotations, you know?

As for Weyrs, I might usurp Kat's idea to a post-apocalyptic Pern. I'd probably never toss out Queens, but I'd like to mess around with patterns on Pernese dragons being what helps distinguish what offspring are, making an originally kind of limited template more unique. Might be fun!

Ah...hmmm...I was going to try this idea in my 'equation', too, but it confused the heck out of me so I left it out.

So, I really should be listing things more like (keeping to four right now) Rnnr or something like that? But how would that show me what color the dragon is or what it can be? This is what caused me to revert to this form of the code because I couldn't figure out how to figure out the recessive/dominate/homozygous parts. And what to do if a code thingy had two dominate letters for different things...Like NRnn or whatnot. Urg...I'm trying to make this as simple as possible - though once I figure it out I'll be good. Heehee

Oh, and then there are the altered dragons - which I see as may or maynot being able to pass those changes on. Like Zyenzhlth; Gemstone colors are not herditary. He has the genetics of a brown but his alteration allows for the possibility of rares.

Wanna see my first idea for this, too? I still have them...

Wow, that site does some good things for genes... if one ignores the idea of dragons having the triple helix. Still, I'd like to play around with that, see how it works in generating some offspring. XD Nice-ness! (Gotta make up a system for slight patterns... I still really like the idea of making a generic template more unique.)

Then again, the whole idea of making rares a possibility doesn't fit in to that pre-designed concept, so yeah, it probably wouldn't work for you. Then again, you could sub in your rare info for what they have listed as white dragons. It would make them a heck of a lot rarer, though, more rare than most people would probably be willing to try for!

For the dominant, recessive and homozygous genes, you can always use a number of factors to determine what shows up -- so (using random letters) AA means no presence of rares Aa means semi-common rares, and aa means full-on rares. It would be a separate gene from what colour your own dragon shows up as. You might need to play around with the number of genes that you need to get rares to be the specific ratio that you want (so you need, say, the recessive of 'aa' to show up at all before you can even get into whatever the rare colours are, which you'd use stuff like GG, Gg, gg, etc.... maybe try poking Phe about descending levels of rarity? She had some neat stuff written up for her Terisen!)

Heh, don't play down the awesome rares that you already have... just limit what kind of offspring they can produce! Allow 'em to live on... they had their own time and place in the era of Pern-related things. :P

I also feel kinda quilty for giving myself rares for simply NPC's. >.<

Cc-GDgn Ss-sSPgn mm rr XX
Nr(pd)-GD(Pd) Ts-SP MM FF XX

(both were different concepts, btw) The top was the first, the bottom was the second idea that is related to the one I currently have.

Cc was color, C normal, c rare
Ss was size, S 'normal size', s small or sport sized
Mm was for multiple dragons per egg, M was single, m more then one...which wouldn't have really worked as most/all of Flynnth's female offspring are fertial and can clutch and chew firestone - golds excluded of course. Unless m was for single and M was for mutlipe....*blinks*
Rr (Ff would make more sense), would be fertility, which would be better if I had it like the mutliple dragons, but still.

What I like about the 'current' code was I was able to put extra stuff on it to help determine what was available. I guess, that could still work, really. *blinks*

Hey, if the current code works for you, try putting it into action -- see if you like the next couple of clutches and how they turn out. :) Best way to modify something is to test it first to see what's wrong.

I kinda do. I just need a code that can help, not be actual in what they are. I'm going to rerun it with a different dice method though...and put the right parents together...>.< I had Zyen with Miri and it's suppose to be Ithronth. Heh...

Or see if I can figure out a way to use it in that method. Truthfully, my mind already sees a possibility...hmmm...

Just posting to say, the new site is up, though not all is done. No firelizards yet. Unless you want to give the clutch-method a test run. LOL

I want to hatch those two clutches this weekend. I'm waiting on at least two more candidates. If anyone else wants in, I have four spots left. Otherwise, I'll use NPC's.

NOTE: These two clutches are/will be my guinea pigs for my genetic codes, unless you all object.

I have noted on the hatching page that there were some minor genetic alterations, but I wasn't told what they were. After this, I promise to use the FGPC for what I created it for - genetically altered clutches. I've been doing to many natural-unaltered clutches. Heh. So, just a warning, this clutch may be a bit 'normal' then originally intended. I just wanna see what happens with a code to go by.

Also...*nudges Dray with L'gal's pencil* I re-read something you posted about the g and w and d genes on your giveaway thread and became a trifle confuzzled by what you said about the 'rules' for the w and d ones. You mind double checking to make sure things are making sense in the department of w and d in the Genetic Database section of the records? Pretty please? I'll bribe you with a pretty little firelizard of your choice...

Mirihaith's clutch has hatched, and, I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm please with the results of my little genetic test. I have Nyth's clutch half ready to go. Just need a hatching story.

Then I say look at the code and you'll see it's only 25% and the dice rolled a color that blends in well with the base color. *shrug* And actually, all but the one with gold was at 30%...not 25%. XD

Can I ask something odd? What are you coding your html pages with? Because without fail, every single quotation mark and single-quote are represented by a little box with hex code in it. (fffd) This is happening to my view of pages a LOT lately, not just yours but all over the web, and I'm trying to narrow it down to why it might happen on one page but not another.

I use notepad...let me try something with the quotations...It might be something to do with using Word to write it and your computer can't use the curved version of a quotation...notepad has straight lines up and down...

Well, actually, does the quotations look right on the pickup page?
