tablet help

Post by DNS »

I have no idea if any of you will be able to help, but I'm freaking the fuck out, so if you can, I'll love you for ever and ever and ever.

My tablet's not working right. This happens sometimes when I install it, but I don't remember how to fix it. I'm trying everything I usually do, including half crying because I can't work with the thing like this, but The problem is this:

I have a graphire 3 tablet by wacom. It occasionally runs on this setting which I absolutely can't stand, where it's like each portion of the tablet is tied to an equal portion of the screen. So if i put my tablet pen in the upper left corner, the cursor goes to that corner. this is somewhat normal, but it keeps dragging back there-- when it's running how I like it to run, the cursor will stay in the place it last was with each stroke, and move from that place when I touch the pen to the tablet again, rather then going back to the place on the screen that's equivilant to the place on the tablet.

I have no idea if that makes sense, but it's really hard to describe. :x and it won't wooork for me. But if anyone has any idea what I'm talking about, and knows how to fix it, please tell me? :x I will give you infinite love. Or even what that kind of scrolling type feature is called, because maybe if I knew it's official name, I could find a setting tutorial or something.

Most the time, I have to go to the Control panel and switch the settings around there, under the "Tablet" icon/"Tablet Settings" icon.

Are you running XP?

I'm running a nice and shiny brand new copy of XP. :x freshly reinstalled.

The options in the control panel fervently insist there's no tablet driver. Strangeness. Particularly because I just attempted to install both the newest version and an older version of the tablet driver's off the internet, AND the drivers on the CD that came with the thing.

Ironically, the tablet works perfectly how i want it to, like my mouse, right when I'm starting up the computer-- but once the desktop icons start to load, it's back to doing this infuriating thing again. D:

Hmm. Are you looking at the "classic" view of the control panel? *is reaching*

And the support online has come up with nothing?

Classic view only-- I don't think I could even find the icon in non-classic view. :x online support doesn't help, and neither do the manuals that came on the CD's. D:

I am now attempting an uninstall off the CD, and then a reinstall off the CD.

I have the same tablet (I think - it says Graphire3 anyway), and I never installed any drivers. I just plug it in and use it.

I wasn't sure, when I got my new comp, if it would work, since I didn't know where the driver disc was at the time, but it didn't seem to phase it in the slightest. Maybe try uninstalling everything and just plug the tablet in? I don't know if that will work for all computers though :/

You know, if I'd've just forgone the whole driver install attempt in the first place, i probably wouldn't've had this problem. :x

I got it working. I have no idea how. All I know is it involved hours of trying different driver installs, uninstalling things, screaming in frustration, and computer restarts. :x Argh.

Thanks for the help, though, guys. <3
