Your dragonet is beginning to panic, because you:
Are indulging in a strong emotional or physical state not induced by your love for your dragon.

And, can I claim another egg since mine hatched? :D

Your Name: Xalia
Email (for contact purposes): xaliademarin@yahoo.com
Egg Question 1:
You are asked to line up with the other children and young adults of Candidate age (11-20 ). While in line, you:
Laugh and joke about what else is going on in the courtyard with the person next to you.

Egg Question 2:
A blue dragon is standing in the courtyard, his rider nowhere in sight. You hear a voice in your head say, "That one," and you:
Wonder where the dragonrider has gone.

*finally gives in* They're too adorable to pass up. XD Is that last egg still available? If it is, here's my form. ^^

Your Name: Molly/Starburst
Email: molly@mysticalplace.com

Egg Question 1:
You are asked to line up with the other children and young adults of Candidate age. While in line, you:
Wonder why, exactly, you have to do this.
Are glad to have gotten time off from chores.
Try to correct your posture and stare straight ahead, awaiting inspection.
Look around nervously and try to half-hide behind your friend.
Laugh and joke about what else is going on in the courtyard with the person next to you.

Egg Question 2:
A blue dragon is standing in the courtyard, his rider nowhere in sight. You hear a voice in your head say, "That one," and you:
Immediately turn around to figure out who was talking.
Figure your imagination has gotten the better of you yet again.
Wonder why you thought, "That one."
Wonder where the dragonrider has gone.
Crouch suspiciously against the wall, figuring someone has figured out you ate the last tart on the table this morning.

STAGE 0: Answer these if you have an egg already.

You consider the best piece of advice to have been given to you as a candidate to date as being:
Don't worry - you'll Impress. It was rather nice having those words said to me. I probably would have been nervous and what not wondering what will happen to me if fortune does not smile at me and I am left standing after the hatching.

Who do you avoid in the Weyr?:
No one. After all, I haven't done anything so wrong that I should be avoiding certain people. I like meeting new people and I certainly love having the chance to hang around with the dragonriders whenever I have the chance. I love hearing about their days as Weyrlings and I love the opportunity to possibly offer my help in bathing or oiling their dragons. ^_^

STAGE 1: Firenth

Your dragonet is beginning to panic, because you:
Are ill, and your reassurances aren't working. I mean Firenth is just such a worrywart. He doesn't like seeing me getting hurt and I love him dearly for that but a fever won't kill me now, would it? And his worrying and panic only makes it more harder for me to relax and sleep if and when I do get sick. I always have to resort in sleeping as close to his wallow as possible or he'll just keep me up because he is worried about me. *sigh*
Firenth: But I don't want anything bad to happen to you, Rider-Mine.

STAGE 1: Geddeth

Your dragonet is beginning to panic, because you:
Are suffering from absolutely terrifying nightmares. Normally calm and collected, Geddeth still can't help but react to my emotional state, and being as nightmares aren't exactly "calming"... panic aside, Geddeth's first reaction is to make his way into my sleeping chambers and paw and nose at me until I wake up. After that, we both have a tendency to curl up together out in his sleeping area - rock might not be as comfortable for humans as it is for dragons, but I'll get use to it. We both like the comfort of having the other right there...

STAGE 1: Arlenth

Your dragonet is beginning to panic, because you:
Are paying attention to another hatchling whose rider has asked for your help. Arlenth, young as he is, can't believe that I would pay attention to anyone but him. He really, really, really thinks that that's an unacceptable use of my time, and is creeling piteously because of it, getting more and more shrill as I keep helping. I keep trying to reassure him that he's the only one I care about, but he's just not listening!

STAGE 0:

You consider the best piece of advice to have been given to you as a candidate to date as being:
Watch out for those sexually charged situations.
You'll be working your tailbone off, which is just as well, if I've anything to say about it.
The anticipation is what will kill you.
Don't worry - you'll Impress.
Make sure you know what your fallback plan is.

Who do you avoid in the Weyr?:
The Headwoman.
The Headcook. I don't know why, it's just the answer that stood out to me. xD
Your fellow Candidates.
The Weyrlingmaster.
No one.

Sorry for the delay, everyone. The power was shut off in Santa Barbara County from early yesterday evening through to 9AM, because of the fire burning two, three, four miles North-East and North-West of us.

Mud: Oak it is! On record he'll be "Oakth" until he's stage 4.

Dray: What a punk dragon you got there! ;D Lumith it is!

Xalia: Despite the fact the gold on the sands is about as protective of her clutch as you've ever seen a gold be, you still risk her displeasure by running your hands over the egg you've got your eyes on.

Image

Wentworth's cause of stress has been noted. There is no growth today!

Molly/Starburst: The last egg of this week is yours!

The hatching cavern feels both immense and small, dwarfed as you feel by both the queen and the cave itself. You step to the side, avoiding the glare of the overprotective queen. A firm presence at your hip has you look down. An egg affectionately does nothing back.

Image

Your answers have been noted, and points awarded!

Houka Ryuu: That's odd. I could have sworn I saw your egg move. Maybe it was just my---

Image --> Image

A bronze breaks free of his shell, and comes thundering toward you. As his eyes meet yours, and you hear a new voice curling around your mind like a particularly possessive feline, you find yourself helpless in the throws of a passion so intense you're on your knees, holding on to the bronze lest you collapse into a moaning, mystified lump of person.

Are you okay? he asks. What is his name?

Firenth's concern has been noted. He will not grow today, but it's looking like he will soon!

DNS: Notarith's concerns have been viewed, and points duly awarded. She's not growing today, though she could as soon as next week, depending!

StarFyre: Geddeth's bulk as he curls around you has noticeably grown larger over the last few sevendays. You didn't quite realize how much, until you were told you'd soon be flying! Geddeth is officially a Weyrling now! He's a bit darker looking, wouldn't you say?

Image --> Image

Arlenth's responses are noted. No growth for him today!

Reenee: You notice as your eyes fall on your egg, that something most peculiar is happening.

CrrrrACK!

Image --> Image

A blue dragon takes a brave step, and -- lands on his nose. That hurts! That hurts! Can't you help me? You move to help the poor little dragonet, and almost cry out yourself when he meets your eyes and your body is wracked with an almost exceedingly physical response to the feeling of him joining up with your consciousness.

"Oh," you might even say, trying to help him to his feet in your breathless, radiant, warming state, "I don't know if it shouldn't rather be you helping me."

What is his name?

For your dragon, aerial drills are:
Invigorating.
A great way to show off.
A taste of freedom.
Exciting.
Liberating.

Arelenth is too excited to finally be in the air to show off. She had to focus a bit on making sure we didn't crash, and was ready to come back down when it was time, but overall, she thought it was exciting - and can't wait until next time! (I, on the other hand, should never be in the air again. Are Riders allowed to be afraid of heights...?)

Reenee: And so is he named!

Houka Ryuu: His name has been recorded!

K. Mythos: Your answer has been noted. Perhaps you can take tranquilizers to make flying ore equitable? ;D

STAGE 1: Answer this if your egg has hatched.
Your dragonet is beginning to panic, because you:
Are indulging in a strong emotional or physical state not induced by your love for your dragon.
Are ill, and your reassurances aren't working.
Have left the barracks to eat, and they cannot follow you.
Are suffering from absolutely terrifying nightmares.
Are paying attention to another hatchling whose rider has asked for your help.

I guess, with all the excitement of impressing and the like, I've been forgetting to eat properly and keep up with my iron tablets, so I've been getting anaemic again... I know it's nothing, and the healers concur, but Nyaeth is worried that I'm so tired all the time and starting to fret. I've tried reassuring him, but he isn't convinced... I'll certainly be keeping on top of the iron levels in future.

Somehow, I had managed to lose track of my time and missed the question!

STAGE 0: Answer these if you have an egg already.

You consider the best piece of advice to have been given to you as a candidate to date as being:
"The anticipation is what will kill you." It was told by one of the higher riders and he walked away laughing. At first I didn't know what he meant by it, with Thread falling, until someone yelled at him. Myself and some candidates around me laughed at him until one of the older brown riders came over. Then we got some /real/ advice!

*pokes head in* Okay, so I just want to try this to see how it works but is confused (and probably late). I know you have to answer questions and there are only eggs on (Wed.?) but that's about it...:P

Every Wednesday, keep an eye on this thread; if nobody has claimed an egg (and sometimes you have to scroll through to double-check!) you can claim one by answering the egg-stage questions. Make sure that you answer them though... if you just say, 'hey, can I try for an egg?' somebody might usurp your spot and snag the last one while you're waiting for an answer!

Rachael's also got a mirror community over on YWIAW Livejournal community. It's the same dealio, except it happens every Monday. You don't even need an LJ account, you just need to pop over on Mondays. Click the 'Leave a Comment' button at the end of the post, and answer the questions there, then sign your name at the bottom.

You can use any dragons that you got on LJ to answer questions here one Wednesday, or vice versa. :) Double-quick growth, wooh!

Once you've got your egg, you're pretty secure! :) You can answer the questions any day of the week for hatchlings and weyrlings (or so it seems, anyways!) I think it's just because demand is high at the moment for eggs that they're tricky to obtain.

Tiiyn: No growth today, but your points have been awarded!

Shadow: Perfectly fine, Shadow! After all, it isn't Wednesday here on the Nexus again yet.

Also, you can/should/probably want to answer the other question for people with eggs this week:

Who do you avoid in the Weyr?:
The Headwoman.
The Headcook.
Your fellow Candidates.
The Weyrlingmaster.
No one.

Yakima: Heh, you've actually already got most of how this works! On Wednesdays, I post three eggs here on the Nexus which are up for grabs. Once you have an egg, you answer the weekly questions to make your egg grow into a hatchling. When you have a hatchling, you answer the hatchling questions over the weeks to help your hatchling grow into a weyrling. When you have a weyrling, you answer the weekly question(s) to help them grow into an adult... ad nauseum.

I do also post eggs and questions on Mondays on LiveJournal, and always announce when this happens here at the Nexus. So on Mondays, you can also choose to go to the LiveJournal page (which is linked to on the Nexus) to claim an egg and/or answer questions, Or post your answer(s) here at the Nexus. (You cannot, however, claim eggs from LiveJournal here on the Nexus. So if an egg is up on LiveJournal, saying, "I claim that egg! Here is my name, email, and answer to the egg questions," I'll say, "Thank you, but I need you to post that on LiveJournal because those eggs are LiveJournal specific. =))

To claim an egg, if there are any available, and these guys don't quite go uber-fast, you would need to fill out the following form:

Your Name:
Email (for contact purposes):
Egg Question 1:

You are asked to line up with the other children and young adults of Candidate age (11-2Cool.

And then when I see that you've posted this, I will give you an egg!

Please feel free to ask me to get specific and/or clarify. =D

Dray: You're correct! You can choose to answer questions from a given week, starting on Monday for the LiveJournal group, or Wednesday for here, at any point until the new questions for the new week are posted.

X3 I know I'm pushing my luck, but since one of my guys grew to weyrling, is it possible to answer Wednesday's Weyrling question? Or since he grew on Wednesday, do I have to wait until Monday to answer Weyrling-type questions?

(I also noticed that Swath isn't updated on the LJ! XD May I poke you to do that?)

He'll have to wait for Monday, since he hit weyrling on Wednesday.

Actually XD I have to update a bunch of dragons after I officially stop working in the next two hours. Swath shall be shown in all his grandeur!

EDIT: YWIAW is officially updated! (Though goodness knows if I'll ever get the questions page up to date. I suppose I should.)

Who do you avoid in the Weyr?:

No one. There's no real reason to avoid anybody, yet. Except for maybe the old "hidebound" people who yell a lot. Sure, the other candidates can get annoying after a while, but it's ok. We all talk during chores so I'm getting to know everybody.

Congratulations, Shadow! As you are standing on the aching, hot sands, a tremulous cry reaches your ears. The egg you'd been coddling has broken open!

Please feed me. It's so hot and I'm so hungry! Swirling green eyes lock on yours, and you feel a sudden, intense heat that has nothing to do with the hatching sands.

"Oooh," you might say, falling breathless to the sands to curl at the side of your green. "I, ah, will - in just a moment?"

Whining, your dragon waits.

Image --> Image

What's this beautiful girl's name? Also, Shadow, you can answer the Stage 1 question on LiveJournal. =)

Monday Questions are Up at the Livejournal Community:

You can find Monday's questions and eggs at http://community.livejournal.com/ywiaw/2978.html

Sorry for the late update! The continuing fire in the area has yet again struck with power outages.

STAGE 0:

When you're standing on the hatching sands and looking around at your fellow candidates, you feel:
Happy. I mean honestly, how could I NOT be happy? I'm getting a chance at impressing upon a beautiful and wonderful creature. My life partner.

You're being taken as a rider along by one of the Weyr's greenriders. You are:
Feeling entitled. They didn't have to let me ride along, now did they? I'm surprised I was let on a dragon again, knowing the comments I had made. Not to mention on a pretty little green- my favorite color.

STAGE 2: Trillianth

Your first experience with threadfall:
Was anticlimactic. I was inside the whole time, and Dragonriders were very soon there to kill it. Nobody was noticeably hurt, no dragons died- heck, the ground was so dusty and bare the thread wouldn't have found anything to eat had it burrowed. The most exciting part was watching the dragons fly, but I had expected something more.

keeping as many as my answers as possible to nexus~

name/email: DNS/dada.siegt@gmail

STAGE 1: Answer this question if your egg has hatched.

A day of ground drills leaves you feeling primarily:
Tired. but in agood way. Notarith and I go to bed exhausted, true, but it's because we spent a while working together, and hey.. soon we might be flying, instead of just doing these ground drills. That will be twice as tiring, but probably twice as fun.
Invigorated.
Hungry.
Numb.
Old.

STAGE 1: Glasth

A day of ground drills leaves you feeling primarily:
Invigorated, strangely. As boring as ground drills are always played out to be, they make life more interesting than candidate chores. Glasth and I can't wait to be flying, but right now running around on the ground is good enough.

DNS: Your answer has been logged! Notarith's already getting pretty close to weyrling size!

Shadow: Glasth is progressing at a good, chipper pace! No growth today, but perhaps soon!

WEDNESDAY EGGS AND QUESTIONS!

Post by Rachael »

3/3 Eggs Taken this week!

All eggs claimed!

Would anyone care for a sort of waiting list for an egg?

To claim a Stage 0 Dragon Egg this week, any prior eggs you have must have already hatched. If you have no prior eggs, or all your eggs have hatched, fill out the following form and it's attached two questions:

Your Name:
Email (for contact purposes):
Egg Question 1:
You are asked to line up with the other children and young adults of Candidate age ( 11-28 ).

---

STAGE 0: Answer these if you have an egg already.

When you first see a Weyr, your thoughts are about:

How large this place is, and of how it smells.
How many people and dragons were needed to run the Weyr.
Where the kitchens are, and when you'll next be eating.
What your new chores would be, and where you're staying.
Something not particularly noteworthy, as you've lived here all your life.

Of the chores you're expected to do as a Candidate, you most like:

Sitting with the youngest ones as a Creche-helper.
Assisting the Head Cook's kitchen workers in preparing the meals.
Working with the runnerbeasts and herdbeasts in the stable and the feeding pens.
Taking care of laundry with the other Weyrfolk.
Mending and sewing clothing for the Weyrfolk.

STAGE 1: Answer this if your egg has hatched.

Your dragon considers firestone tossing to be:
Necessary.
Building your strength.
Making you sore.
Making apparent your inherent clumsiness.
Amusing to watch.

STAGE 2: Answer this if your hatchling has grown into a Weyrling!

Your dragon and you were accepted into a wing after:
Your dragon suffered Threadscore.
You suffered Threadscore.
Your dragon proved their ability in flying firestone sacks in Threadfall.
It became apparent one or the other of you were a detriment to fellow Weyrlings.
Hell froze over.
