Question #2!
Do you guys care about having a candidates/sponsors page with links to the other people who sent stuff in updated? O.o I'm wondering about nixing it from the BWR site, but I'll keep it up if you find it a useful resource.
Alternately, I could add a list of how many dragons are left available with the clutch itself: '2/15', 'full', etc. if this would be more valuable to you.

The records room for post-pickup works pretty well in the long run, but I'd definitely like to at least know how many are left while we're sending things in. And some form of 'return reciept' or something, because I know that's made some of us a bit antsy when we're not sure where we stand
I usually manage to choose ones which aren't the most popular, but not every time, so there's always the chance that 5 of us are going for only 2 or 3. Which is why I love seeing what all is out there - even if it means bowing out for the time being so folks who are really, REALLY gung ho about getting one from a clutch, get the chance

I'm going throw the BWR website and trying to make it more efficient, since right now it sucks! I'll update from this thread as well, but I just want to know what's working and what isn't from the viewer's point of view.
eta: Not sure how to do a 'return reciept' sort of deal unless by updating every single time a person has sent something in! D: Anybody have any pointers?

I will try to stick to that, but I've been bad about replying to emails (or even opening them until the clutch is full!)
Since I'll have to update the '1/15' section of the site, I guess I'll just keep the URL to the stats page/story (or just throw up the names of the people who sent me forms). That might work.
Psst, Kat, I see you online! Get back to work!

A new section is coming to the BWR to replace the abandons page (since I inevitably muck up abandonments, one way or another.)
The Graveyard will reside in the dark channel somewhat downstream from the nesting grounds of the blacks, and this is where all abandoned dragons come to die. It is littered with bones and the smell is absolutely foul, but there is a certain kind of peace that resides here that draws BWR dragons back.
It is guarded by an old crone of a dragoness, (she herself looks like she might die at any minute, but she's managed to hang on for an awfully long time...) and the dragoness ensures that nobody (and I mean nobody) comes through the graveyard unchaperoned. She is a very powerful, experienced necromancer, and you know what that means...
Basically, the graveyard functions the same way as the abandoned page, but you don't get a preview image of the dragon (that's what the records page is for -- there are going to be example images for every clutch, so you just need to do a bit of digging.)
The difference here is that I can offer to resurrect a dragon for you. This isn't a free service. I require either a story or a dragon trade, and even then, some dragons will not come back entirely whole, hale and healthy.
Like cyborware, I'd like to come up with a list of mutations that dragons might possibly undergo when returning to life. These need to be small changes (not entire-reworks like 'omg zombie with its guts spilling out! :D) so that it doesn't take forever to alter the original image. These mutations will only occur about a third of the time, and when they do, most will seem to be cosmetic only, and fairly random.
I need your help!
Firstly, I need categories for mutations. If you could help me brainstorm different categories (not specific mutations, but kinds) then I would be extremely grateful. The way categories can work is that you can ask the necromancer to perform a specific kind of spell to re-wake the dead, so that your mutation (if it happens) will reflect a certain category. If you want a beautiful dragon, don't use the shrunken-head spell, for example!
So... some examples of categories:
Fire/Water/Air/Earth
Wraith
Undead
Where each mutation would fit the category -- patches of earthy skin, see-throughness, a mane of fire -- things like that will be the actual mutations. X3 Just need a set of categories first!

hmm, a category that would effect the size of the dragon? including making them massive, flit size, permanently child..
some category that would combine some of the attributes of all other deceased in the graveyard? colour, pattern, little things like manes and claws.
just ideas.. this is a neat concept :d

New Previews are available!
http://artdragon.mine.nu/~kalyturn/adop ... pickup.htm
Applications are due by March 15th!
The site's gettin' a big old update, too.
I'm going through the records because there are quite a few missing links as well. A list will be added once that's done of abandoneds and abandonment-warnings.

I'm definitely going to go for one of the White clutch, wow. (Besides the fact that they're still descendants of Eurani, they've got awesome power and personality combinations.)

It's more like every other difficult to access Weyr or Castle or what have you. Teleportation is king, though the dragons here aren't entirely back-water. Dragons still have a connection to the rest of the Nexus with internet hookups (thanks to the functional magic of the Whites up in their *cough* ivory tower *die*) and since the BWR dragons made friends with a lot of offworld people and those connections tend to stay in the family, there is plenty of visiting.
Generally this colony (or three colonies) are open to visitors. They've only picked up their bags and moved because Star City doesn't have a lot of room to expand, and the BWR dragons make a point of expanding over time.
How you can find out about events: messages about clutches will be sent as emails (or their equivalent) to friends (and you're perfectly allowed to assume that your character's friends with the clutch mother or father, so long as it's owned by me!) and word travels by mouth pretty quickly.
How you can get there: Teleportation, or good old fashioned space travel. The planet itself is undefined for now (I'm more interested in the BWR than distractionary world-building around it!) but it's located about 40 UI from Star City, which is roughly a week's travel for standard space vessels. The BWR is currently spending quite a bit on imports for things like plumbing and electronics and mining apparatus (to dig into the mountain for living space). Characters could probably hop a ride on these import vessels if they could afford the fare or were sneaky enough to stow away!
Does that help? Anything else?

I'm using the excuse (as you might have seen) that Eurani is the ancestor of this white clutch and therefore is rather greedy to see what new things come from it. I think as long as the name's Promontores she might still do that

I went digging through your records page and saw that criima kaal had a big red (LINK) next to it, so in case you missed it way back!Mud wrote:Criima kaal from 14r has a new link: http://mudpuppy.otersi.com/bazaar/crew/grizz.html
did some organizing and the previous location didn't make any sense.
That info helps a lot, thanks. I don't have any teleporters so I'm glad my guy can just hitch a ride.
Thanks for the poke, Mud! I was going to ask to make sure (Once I figure out who all owned what, I'll be dividing all of the bad-links into 'already abandoned' -- if the owner has been away from the nexus for a while, or 'threatened' if the owner is still around.)
Time-wonkery in the Nexus is the best. :D Great-great-great grandmothers can chase down their descendants with ease!

Just went through the email applications that were sent in for the red and white clutches currently available here.
There were quite a few suggestion-style applications for the red clutch, so I would urge applicants to send in stats pages if you're going to apply for this clutch -- suggestion-applications get the lowest priority and can only adopt a limited number of dragons from each clutch, so if I have a lot of these kinds of applications, some will go away empty handed... and at the same time a lot of the hatchlings don't get a caretaker, so they go to the graveyard.
XD Thanks for all of the applications so far! The red clutch has 10 days before closing, and the white clutch closes at the end of the month. :D
