Back!

Post by Fuzzy »

SORRY! >_<

I had an unexpected hiatus: on the 4th of September, my PC kept bluescreening. So I gave it to a friend of mine 70 miles away. She bought RAM since mine had died, and reinstalled my OS. All was well for a few days with her, so I went up there and picked it up and brought it home, 3 hour roundtrip.

Boom, after an hour: bluescreens every 20 minutes. Then black screens- the PC failed to turn on. So I sent it to a friend of the family who owns a local renowned PC shop. First it turns out the BIOS somehow had a virus in it. Then the virus corrupted my hard drives. One drive could be salvaged, the other couldn't. I bought a 400 gb drive from him and he and his staff worked their asses off to fix it and get it up and running. He wiped the virus and installed the OS.

It worked, and they called me to tell me it was all set to be picked up- and as he said that, it died on him. ALL OVER AGAIN!- so he found out that my motherboard fried somehow- some specific part in it- and that in turn caused everything to go splurt. And my motherboard was an ASUS ;_; So the next best thing we could do was get another board, not of the same brand since my ASUS one was obsoletized, which was compatible with my prior setup with the ASUS. So he put the board in and lo and behold!- I have practically a new PC- and I'm loving it.

During that month, I busted my butt off doing my part time job, and got sick as hell from some nasty virus going around. I focused on doing a few drawings, resting, blew through six novels, honored Mabon in a solo ceremony I wrote myself (which took days!), and worked on spiritual hygiene and generally resting myself on as many levels as possible.

I got my PC back yesterday, but worked, so I couldn't touch it. Right now I need an antivirus. X3 I'm getting that put on ASAP. But I just had to tell you all what's going on.

Not to worry, EVERYTHING I owned was on my spare external HD. :) And I missed all of you!

*snickers* Oh yeah. It was -nuts-, but also a blessing in disguise in a lot of ways. It got me to focus on the projects I wanted to get done once I got the pc :) and it also made me realize how little of my projects I've -printed-. I went nuts wanting CyZen and Tanazira info and couldn't use any of it. XD

It's great to be back. ^^ I really missed all of you.

I lost nothing. :) External hard drives are your friend, if you're careful not to put any virus-infected stuff onto 'em. Because I've got stuff that's about a decade old ('97 or so) that's been continually worked on, it'd be devastating if I lost the 9 GB of work. (Yup- 9 GB. Too much to put on a CD-R, and I hate thumb drives).

I did lose 14 mb of hand-written HTML files once. I was devastated for over two months, 'cause I had to redo all of it. moral of the story: Even if you think your PC is safe, BACK IT UP. ;)
