A New Coat of Paint...New Drak Template?

Post by Yakima »

I was playing around with my old image for the draks and, (like I normally do with old templates), thought it looked...ugly. So I going over the shading. I never realized just how much diferance there is in my style now and when I did this (and remember being very proud of it).

This is the old image I used:

This is the partially redone one (still playing with shading and layers and wings were played with but need some reshading done...)
Image

Just thought I'd share because I'm board and the shading looks sooooooo much better! :P

That's really pretty, Yakima. A lot of improvment.

I really like the change. All the colors look much sharper and brighter, and everything seems sharper and refined. His mane and tail look incredible, as well. Really pretty!

Well, I was kinda bored and started to revamp Baskar's site - probably because I started redoing the drak images and...well...anyway...this is what i have so far: Dark, blood red and eeire. Considering I have a plot ready should I finish...it fits:

Okay, so I was looking at that template and compared it to the Legend drak template I used for the Shimmer Frenzy - and realized I didn't like it (that and the head looks too big for the rest of it...)

Been drawing (OMG I'm drawing! Yay! :P) a new adult template. Whatcha all think?

Image

The mane and tail look like there are two layers because I'm going to use two versions. Fighting draks keep there mane (and tails? not sure if it will be needed) short because they can get in the way. Non-fighting draks (like those in the healing or in ranking positions like High Princes, Judge, ect), don't need to cut them and can let them grow out to there heart's content. [It's like Quarter Horse/Paints vs Arabians/Saddlebreds :P...just no banding! *snerk*)

Like usuall, the wings will give me the most trouble with my limited room but...*shrug*

Very pretty, and I like the idea behind the dual layers. Nice.

Very lovely image! Only thing I notice is that while I /love/ the detail you put into that far hind leg, it looks a little uncomfortable at that angle... :\ Just picture your horse standing like that and you'll know what I mean... XD A little angle would look good, that's just a little too much angle I think...

Can't wait to see the finished image in your new coloring style though! Shiny! :D

Saddly, my horse does like to stand like that sometimes...*whaps him* After realizing you meant the leg covered in the tail, I changed it. :P *scans/uploads updated one*

My horse actually stands that way too, but only when I've turned him around, because he's just too lazy to straighten out his legs... XP But still, it looks /really/ uncomfortable when he does it... XD

I suspect it's no more uncomfortable than a dancer standing in one of those impossible poses with their feet facing apart. It's done all the time, just... looking at it is eeew!
