About: Not much to say, once upon a time I lived in BC (and miss it like nothing else) but we moved to Ontario and now I am in Toronto, going to university to be a teacher of english (hopefully overseas. In like, Japan). I've been a bookworm since I was very young, and got fixated on fantasy in grade six when I was introduced to the Pern series by my aunt. Since then I've moved to other series, but they've mostly been fantasy.

About: Truth be told, there's not much to know. I used to live in middle of nowhere Illinois, and now live about five hours south of there, where I've taken up residence in a tower (on the top floor, no less) on a college campus. I refuse to give up my writing and art, despite being a Computer Engineering major, though on occasion I can easily be lost in my schoolwork and forget to do outside activities. Poking me tends to be very effective at getting my attention, though. Feel free to jab me on AIM, as I'm almost never offline, and if I am, it's because I'm in class and don't dare use my laptop. My small little rebellion against growing up consists of still obsessing over video games, playing D&D all Saturday til past midnight, and styling my hair like my favorite game character, Geddoe from Suikoden 3.

Favorites: Hmm... my favorite color is Blue. ^_^ My favorite real life animal is a wolf. Next is a Husky. And next is a cat. However, my favorite mythical creature would be the dragons, of course, which is closely followed by unicorns, and then pegasus.

For hobbies, I like to read manga and sci-fi books. Oh, and romance, I recently got hooked into them. And I play the piano or the guitar when I'm in the mood.

About: Well, for those who do not know me, I used to be known as Fire Dragon by most of my online friends. I came up with Fire Dragon because I was born on the year of the Dragon and the month I was born had the element of Fire, I am going by the Chinese Calendar here. Anyways, that was how I came up with Fire Dragon. However, the name Fire Dragon became too popular in the online world and would always be taken whenever I joined RPGs or MMORPGs or what not. And so, I have decided on changing my online name into something that I hoped would be unique enough that no one would think about it. Going to a free japanese online dictionary, I searched the japanese word for Fire and Dragon. There were a few words there but I finally came up the two that sounds nice together. Hence, the name Houka (Fire) Ryuu (Dragon). ^_^ And I have stayed with the name since 2004.

As for dragoning, I first got hooked into it from Darkling Dawn Weyr in 2006. But then the site got into a sort of hiatus and I never had a chance to have more personas made. Besides, I was sidetracked by the DRoP RPGs that I have joined since then that were actually alive and busy so, I kind of forgot about it. *sheepish* But then, a friend of mine, darkdescendant, from AMN told me to adopt Rukels. She had taken a look at my personal site and had taken a liking to Spireth, my only Rukel at the time. Wanting one of her own, she had gone to Darkling Dawn Weyr. Anyways, as I went exploring the Darkling Dawn Weyr yahoo group, in the Links folder was a link to Nexus Nooks. There were some nice dragonries linked there but I was a bit intrigued about the Nexus itself. And so, I checked the site out. Wouldn't you know, I never realized that there would be a Nexus for dragonries until I quite stumbled into it.

Of course, I immediately joined Nexus and after taking a look at various sites that I liked the art of, I began making candidates for them. I even received a giveaway character from Astra even though I was quite new to the site. ^_^

About: I came into dragon adoption the summer of 2002, I believe, through Sidra Weyr, Opal Moon Weyr, and Tiynarea Weyr at first, gradually discovering a smorgasborg of other online Weyrs.

Promised myself I wouldn't add to the clutter with a Weyr of my own and promptly ignored myself by opening Darkling Dawn Weyr. Then Drockh-Tallahn Castle. And Sgiath Wolfkeep. I regret nothing!
I'm usually a shameless lurker, but somehow came out of my shell when it came to the Nexus. I like to think my writing and drawing abilities have improved a lot since I joined, though I don't so much write anymore as create stat sheets nowadays.

So, I was poking around on the Nexus site tonight, due to trying to find words to explain the Nexus to a semi-interested newbie, and I realized that all the Akelara links are very much incorrect.

It's http://www.silveredmagic.com/akelara/index.html now. It's also turned into both a hybridizing and purebred agency, and... well, active but slow.

... In my half-awake funk, that's everything I can think of at the moment... There's probably other incorrect information up there (or incomplete, like the Myrsilkains and other such races I've created were never added to the database because I never entered them... things like that) but yeah..
